I know that very few of my Dallas area Cayman brethern (and sister...en?) autocross, but hopefully I'll see a few of you out at Pennington International Motor Park (the parking lot in front of the Hurst-Euless-Bedford High School Football Stadium) for the Maverick region's 2nd autocross of the year. I'm registered -- car #94, a Black 2007 Cayman -- and I'd hate to be the only Cayman out there!

It was nice to meet you today. The ride with one of the instructors was pretty eye-opening.. seeing as this was my first time to witness an AutoX. I might have to give this a try next time.

Great meeting you as well saabin! You should definitely give AX a try. The Porsche club -- the folks that put on this weekend's event -- are a great bunch of people, but as we found out, they only allow ride-alongs with Porsche Instructors. Other groups in the area like the SCCA (http://www.autocross.com/texasregion/)and Equipe Rapide (http://www.autocross.com/er/equiperapide/modules/news/), aren't quite as restrictive, so if you come out to one of those, I'll be glad to show you the ropes. Or just come out and play at any of those events. Everyone starts at the beginning, and it really is a ton of fun and a great introduction to performance driving. Then we'll get you hooked on DE's and open lapping days...

The event was a great one! We had only 40 drivers or so, mostly due to the Houston National Tour being on the same weekend (took a lot of folks away), so we got to have 8 runs. The course was very challenging with at least 3 pivot cones and a "skid-pad". And for once, I wasn't the only Cayman out there! Aside from saabin, who came out to watch (this time

), we had another new Cayman owner - Woulter. I think it was his first event as well, and he did a great job!

I hope more of you come out to play this year... it'd be nice to have some "Cayman company" out on course. Remember, track days aren't the only performance events you can participate in!
