Maverick PCA DE - Eagle Canyon, May 23-24 2009
Who's coming out to play at the DE at Eagle's Canyon this weekend (PCA: Maverick Region)? I'm in (#94), and see FriscoCayman on the list. If I'm not mistaken, RAC will be there too... with that very cool "slightly modified" yellow CS? Who else will be there? Some of the "usual suspects" seem to be missing...

Not this time, maybe next. Kestrel, didn't see you at the AX last weekend in Bedford. I wasn't driving but just stopped by for an hour in the afternoon to see what was going on. BTW, did you ever get your car detailed?

Re: Maverick PCA DE - Eagle Canyon, May 23-24 2009
Well, that was a fun event, even if we did have to contend with some wet weather on Sunday. Good to see all the Cayman out there, although I think FriscoCayman and I were the only ones from this board that came out to play.
The format was a little different because of the Club Racing that also took place. Instead of the usual 5 run groups (Green, Blue, Yellow, White, and Red) there were only 4: Blue, Yellow, and two club racing groups. This meant that novices (Greens) were not allowed to run. It also meant that folks were kinda just divided into the two groups. Reds, Whites, and some Yellows were in the single Yellow group, and the other Yellows joined Blues in the Blue group. I'm guessing a few Yellows felt a little annoyed at being downgraded to Blue , but the groups seemed to run pretty well together.
The club racing was pretty interesting. Saturday saw a fair number of "incidents", including one pretty bad one that took two cars out. Thankfully, nobody was seriously hurt, and no significant medical attention was needed. It was a ton of fun watching corners 1 and 2 from the top of "observation hill", where you also had a pretty good view of corners 7, 8 and 9.
The downside to the club racing was that us DE folks had shortened sessions on Sunday afternoon. And with the rain showers on Sunday afternoon, the driving was just not much fun. Fortunately we had 4 good sessions on Saturday and two good sessions on Sunday, with some fun spectating in between. I had Memorial Day party to get to on Sunday afternoon, so I wasn't able to hang around for the last DE session on Sunday or the Enduro race (60 minutes!).
All-in-all a good weekend, and I'll be looking forward to the next Maverick PCA DE in the fall!

Unfortunately I had other family commitments and couldn't make it out to the PCA AX. I would have liked to, but...

Not yet, but the next weekend I have available that isn't threatening rain, I'll be giving Detailwerkz a call!
