Recommendations for Softronic install?

Hello, all,

I am thinking of ordering the Softronic Plenum for my first Cayman S modification. Can anyone recommend a good place in Orange County to install it (preferably one that has already done one)? I am also considering an exhaust system, probably AWE, for a second mod. Does anybody have that setup? What are your impressions, especially regarding acceleration off the line? TIA.

Re: Recommendations for Softronic install?

The combination of the Softronic plenum & software, plus AWE exhaust was the configuration of my car until very recently. You will find the car to be MUCH stronger off the line and everywhere else, too. I don't think you'll be disappointed - the improvement is obvious.

BBI Autosport (a cayman club sponsor) did my SRP install - I'm sure they will be happy to do yours too.

They are fantastic.

Re: Recommendations for Softronic install?

I'm always a 'do it yourself' advocate. I've found that so far nothing has been easy, but neither the plenum nor exhaust install were extraordinarily difficult. Not fun but not that bad. Admittedly, I was seriously cursing the new oil/air separator hose, but that was about it, other than getting the bose connection undone (possibly not in the same location on the boxster).

just an idea

Re: Recommendations for Softronic install?

I'll second that recommendation! I've purchased a number of items from Greg at Road Sport Supply (RSS). The high level of service, integrity, product knowledge, enthusiasm and innovation is greater there than anything I've found elsewhere throughout my 30 years of automotive tinkering.

In fact, Greg and RSS even engineered and assembled my custom exhaust system for me, resulting in a system which I am ecstatic about (search on the Cayman Club "anyone know what exhaust this is?") using components from manufacturers he doesn't even represent!

Here is Greg's contact info:

Road Sport Supply
1275 S. Logan Ave.
Costa Mesa, CA 92626
Phone: 714.545.1046
Fax: 714.432.1697

E-mail: sales@roadsportsupply.com

I hope this is helpful!

Regards,
Joe

Kind of like taking your Ford into a Chevy dealer to get it fixed.

Oh, I think I get it - Scott:Softronic::Greg:RSS/IPD. So it would be like taking a Lakers jersey to a Celtics fan for alterations. BBI Autosport sounds like more of a neutral party. I just received my Softronic package in the mail yesterday (I might have been the last customer for the recent buy in, pulling the trigger not too many minutes before the midnight close), and am quite excited! Still have to decide on an exhaust, though. Thanks to all for the input.

You may also wish to try Vision Motorsports in Laguna Hills (www.visionmotorsports.com). Dwain Dement (owner) and the rest of the team do great work on all late model Porsches (both street and race cars).

Search the CC forum for Vision Motorsports and you will find a couple examples of their work (Motorsports AOS and PS system).

Dwain Dement
Vision Motorsports
22861 Granite Way
Laguna Hills, Ca 92653
(949) 770-2888

It is worth a visit just to check out the race cars in the shop.

Cheers,

We second the motion. Dwain is one of the most knowledgeable Porsche techs in the country and his facility is equally as top shelf. He even has an in-house dyno so you can quantify your gains. He's your one stop shop for full Porsche service. Looking forward to seeing the dynos.

Cheers!
