Thumbs up NorCal'ers - What's Your Occupation?

NorCal'ers -

I stole this thread idea from PistolPete13, who posted it for the Northeast Region. The idea is terrific. Kudos to PistolPete13!

Like PistolPete 13, I think we in the NorCal region have a diverse group of Cayman owners with different skills and occupations. It would be nice to know that there are local resources and experts that we could turn to for professional/semi-professional opinions. Please include serious hobbies and fields of expertise if you're so inclined.

So what say you all: What's your occupation or field(s) of expertise?

I, myself, am an anesthesiologist, working for Kaiser Permanente.

Re: NorCal'ers - What's Your Occupation?

I'm a freelance software/IT project manager. At the moment, I'm engaged at an RFID company with more involvement in hardware than my typical gig. Over the years, I've worked in shipping, insurance, healthcare, and financial services industries - and probably a couple more I can't remember right now. I play in both product development and process improvement/tools implementation.

Hi Beez,

I know about that thread, but I was thinking that it's nice to have local resources in the area that you live. I realize people can always post questions on the forum, but perhaps there are times that the questions might be somewhat sensitive or something needs to be done/evaluated in person. That was the goal of my posting.

No worries, Jim - I wasn't calling you out or anything, just posting a link so if folks here found this interesting and didn't know about the other thread, they could read the same about other members from other parts of the country...

Re: NorCal'ers - What's Your Occupation?

I do seasonal work. Clubbing for a major seal harvesting company. Harpooning on whaling ships. Stuff like that. My ferret business went under last year when the whole weasel market crashed. So right now I am looking for a partner in a new venture.

Marlin wrangling in Baja. Fastest growing extreme sport. You hook a marlin, then snap the line into a water ski tow rope rig and jump in the water with skin diving gear on. It makes for a wild ride. It's going to be a freaking goldmine.

I still do "contract" work for small pharmaceutical companies in the bay area.. retired from ALZA as an analytical chemist, QA and development manager. Now my own boss and get to drive my Cayman to the Bay Area down from the foothills.

Anyone notice that there are fewer cars on 580 in Livermore/Pleasanton these days??

Bad part is that it's easier to speed and have red & blue flashing lights following you!!

I'm a elementary public school teacher in S.F.

I drive my 987 everyday! Luckily I have indoor, locked parking with brand new video surveillance!
