Just wondered how many of the UK contingent will be attending the Autosport/Pistonheads Show just after Xmas at the NEC in Birmingham?

There's a big Porsche feature/display amongst other things.

Re: Autosport & Pistonheads Show - NEC Jan 09
Used to have a stand upto 2000 or so, Haymarket just pi$$ed me off with the price......think last time we had a budget of about 15k for 4 days,,,,,,tad excessive for what we got back.
Usually wander down, but it's been the same old same old for this last few years, so, wasn't going to bother this (next) year. You exhibiting??

Re: Autosport & Pistonheads Show - NEC Jan 09
Thinking about it, but will definately be there in some capacity, either working or spectating. Have missed the last couple of years.
Plus my other car group are there as well, the SIDC.
The prices on stands are excessive, but there appears to be a lot of room for negotiation . They certainly charge enough for a ticket!!

Re: Autosport & Pistonheads Show - NEC Jan 09
It's a shame Porsche tuning is so expensive for such minimal gains. My concern is most of the tuning actually devalues the car come resale time. Having looked at the used car market it seems that only manufacturers with type approval like Ruf seem to command decent resale prices for their vehicles. I'm sure the products offered by Autofarm and other tuners do improve performance and enjoyment from the vehicle , but you would have to own a very special car to spend a lot of money on it when a simple trade up achieved the same result. I beleive you can order a ruf 3400K for similar money with its own signature bodykit , interior clocks and type approval.
I missed the show this year , did anyone go and have any reports ? I must admit I was a little put off by the number of web threads from the possies of nova and subaru drivers intending to visit and no option for a weekday entrance without trade passes.

Re: Autosport & Pistonheads Show - NEC Jan 09
The price in the article isn't strictly correct. Thats what you get if you add up all the options on the price list, but for a true price on carrying out the work you need to speak to us directly. There are large savings to be made when ordering a number of items together. The engine and the exhaust for example.
We also don't expect people to order everything on the list and there is also the option of us supplying just the parts and you doing the work yourself, including the engine upgrades.
Everyone has differing opinions of tuning, bang per buck and aftermarket values, etc. But i do wonder how much some people on here have spent on their cars. If you carry out mods slowly, throughout your ownership of a car and treat it as your hobby, the costs quickly add up.
I can only let people try the upgrades for themselves and hope the proof is in the pudding. A lot of the items available are things people on here have already fitted to their cars already.
Were not trying to reinvent the wheel here. Just provide the right set of upgrades to try and create the car Porsche should of attemted to make to start with.

Re: Autosport & Pistonheads Show - NEC Jan 09
Completely agree Robin, and to cover Berty's point. Yes if you spend a penny on modifications come resale you loose double. But I didn't buy my car to resell it and yes listened way to much to the dealers when ordering my options, like it's got to have sat nav,19" wheels etc and be a conservative colour , come resale time, ............well resale time has been and gone and it not worth a carrot now compared to the 53k I paid, so I for one am just going to enjoy it and play out with mi mates occasionally to the extend when somebody in the UK makes a cage, full of half....I'll have one, now that will de-value the thing

As the Owner of the Most Highly Modified (Privateer) Cayman in the UK
I Will Direct you to Her Indoors - Who will tell you that the Modifications were Very Reasonable, and did never exceed £4 3/4d.........Each - In Old Money - Pounds Shillings/Pence (It is Amazing What MillTek can do...!)
But Your Point is Well Taken..........
I Pretty Well Have All your Upgrades, Already Fitted (And Some More...)
However the 3.7/3.9 Upgrade......... Does hold some Fascination.......
