Cayman Virgin here

Hi everyone, I'm new here today, great forum and have just plonked a depo on a used Gen 2 Cayman S,which I collect this Thursday hopefully.

I would realy appriciate any tips come collection day, things I should look for and expect to get with my car.

I've just steped out of a BMW 135i and hope I don't miss the low end torque too much

Thanks everyone.

A used 2nd Gen. CS already? How many miles does it have on it? If you are new to Porsche ownership, be sure and read the Owners Manual cover to cover - Porsches have a lot of little idiosyncracies - and read through the FAQ on this website as well for info.

Welcome and congrats! Be sure and post some pix when you get a chance. I don't think you will miss the 135i too much.

Re: Cayman Virgin here

First off, Welcome and Congrats.

Here is a link to the FAQ. Planet Porsche - FAQ

Lots of good info there. I would have the dealer show you as much about the car as they can. Like where the tire kit, battery cover, cd changer and nav unit dvd cabinet are. Where the check coolant and oil fill ports are. How to check the oil level. I, as recommended downloaded the appropriate owners manula from this site and read it cover to cover a couple of times so I had a basic idea of where stuff is and how the options worked. That made my acceptance inspection much easier. I didn't feel like the porsche virgin that I was. Plus I was so pumped up with nerves and adrenaline I wouldn't have heard and remembered 1 out of 3 things my salesman told me. I felt like I held a somewhat intelligent cayman conversation. I hope he feels the same way .

There are so many intelligent and nice Porsche owners/fans here that I know it has made my transition to a Cayman S a joy.

Great advice, many thanks for that, now I'm off to find that handbook to down load.
