Cayman CSR, 24hr 'Ring in Forza 2 (pics)

Whew...so, I just spent the last 3 days working on this thing, and it's finally finished. In light of reading about the Cayman's results in the 24hr Nurburgring race, and reading the interview with the Cayman CSR driver, I decided to re-create this car in Forza 2. This is my first "paint job" in Forza, so there are probably more than a few imperfections. Anyone who has Forza 2 and has tried to design a vehicle, will understand what kind of undertaking this was. It was a pain, because none of the decals on the vehicle were in the "Manufacturer's Decal List", so I had to re-create 98% of the decals on the vehicle. Also, when going throught the 9 or so pictures I had of the actual car, I noticed they were from different events, and they had different decals for different events. I tried my best to re-create the one from the Nurburgring race. Very tedious. Anyway enough babbling...on with the pics. (Sorry, there's quite a few).

More pics....(yeah, i got a little crazy with the camera)

Goin for a ride around the carrousel. (a little dirty from racing too).

- I couldn't really see the top of the car in any of the pictures, so I kinda had to do it freestyle. I represented Cayman Club though....

***For anyone with a copy of Forza 2, if you want this paintjob just send me a Friend Request and let me know. My 360 gamertag is xAFKx Vader. Just gift me a cayman, I'll slap the paintjob on there, and gift it back to ya.

AWESOME JOB! You, sir, are VERY talented. Friend request most definitely coming your way.

For those that don't know, this takes a ton of skill to achieve. It's not like you can import graphics like you can in PhotoShop. Almost everything has to be made from basic shapes and layering.

K-Man, I messed around for about an hour trying to replicate the logo on the website. Trying to convert the "C" to the shape of a car was a major pain. Although, that was the final touch that I was doing at 3am, so my paitence might have been a little short.

But still, it was quite difficult, and this was my first try and messing with the paint editor. Remember, you can't just import images, you have to use multiple layers of geometric shapes to make images. If I could just import the "Cayman Club" logo, then it would be a done deal.

I'll make another attempt at re-created the "car" on top of the Cayman Club logo, but I can't make any garuntees....

I spent hours at my first attempt at a CaymanClub logo paint scheme and I can only imagine the effort you put in. Very awesome!

Very nice, I can appreciate the time it must have taken to recreate those decals.

I have a question for you. What is Forza 2 anyway? Is it a sim game or just recreating race cars? I have used NASCAR 2003 in the past with the add ons available on the net to practice and learn the racing line of several tracks before I ever see them, Watkins Glen and Lime Rock in particular. I'm gong to Mont Treblant next but no luck finding that one yet.

Getting back to Forza 2, if its a racing sim, what are the characteristics of the Cayman S model like, are they like a real Cayman or are they just a generic race car with the Cayman body on it like in NASCAR 2003?

Oh trust me I know it is hard to do, just trying to spur you into action! Speaking of action I sent you a friend request earlier today. When you accept I will send you a copy of my Cayman with my Racer X theme on it, save that to your theme library then put the Cayman CSR Hankook theme on the car and send it back please.

Racing simulator similar to Gran Turismo for the Playstation, lots and lots of real cars, you can build them up and option them out and race all sorts of different tracks although honestly I am disappointed that there aren't more tracks especially those in the ALMS circuit, etc. but I figure those will be added via Xbox Live downloads later on, just like getting more cars.

Sending you a friend request too (Cogitare). No car coming though. Haven't decided what I want for another paint scheme.

Here, here! I for one want Road America ASAP. It was in the first game so I was very unhappy that they left it out this time. Usually a new game in a series has more tracks than the original not less.

Oh and I'd love more Euro tracks, too. Spa would be insane!

Hello SAllen0400,

very nice job ;o)
We are proud to see our Cayman CSR driving in America ;O)))))

Just to take o look at the top (nobody know's what's on it) here is a picture from the restart after the fog is gone:
Cayman CSR, 24hr 'Ring in Forza 2 (pics)-dsc00109_25.jpg

If you need a PDF for the [eikju:] or BEKO logo, please let me know ...

Unfortunately I just have GT4 on playstation, no 360/Forza ... maybe I must buy.

Yours

Thanks. Your Cayman CSR is getting some minor exposure over here in the states. I've already sold 4 of them in the online auction house, and I'll be gifiting a few more to other Cayman Club members. So, there should be about 10 of them in ciruclation soon.

Don't be too surprised if you come across the Cayman CSR while racing online in Forza.

-If you are an avid gamer, then I would highly recommend the 360/Forza combination. But if you don't play it that much, then it might not be worth the nearly $500 USD purchase to buy the 360/Forza. But it's an incredible game though!

Just a quick question....Do drivers such as yourself ever use video games to "train" for certain race tracks? I'm sure it's not 100% perfect, but I think it could help you become familiar with a track that you've never raced before. I've never been to Germany, but if I ever got the chance to drive "The 'Ring", it would feel very familiar to me because I've raced that track soooo many times in different video games. (I'm not saying I could successfully drive it, I'm just saying it'd be familiar....)

Hi,
I just try to train the "Nordschleife" in GT4/PS2, I think it is good to learn the track, because of so many blind corners it's just guessing what's next when I startet racing last year. But I get no real feeling of the track, driving it is very different ... and much more exciting ;o)

Yours

I have to agree with SAllen400 that I don't think it would make me a 'Ring killer or expert or race champion but at least I would have some idea of what is coming next. Too bad real cars don't have a track look ahead view projected on the windshield. I would love to drive the Cayman CSR on the 'Ring and do a report article for this website, perhaps Christoph can make that happen?

Hi Ken,
we just have some onboard videos from the CaymanCSR during VLN races this year (unfortunately not from 24h).
As my english is not so good, do you want to drive the real CaymanCSR on the ring and make a report or do you want me to make a race report ?!?

Yours

Well if you can set me up to drive the Cayman CSR on the Ring I'm happy to do it. If you want to send me some videos from onboard camera you can put them on DVD and send to me in the mail and I will put them on our server for members to download and watch. I will PM you my address. If you want to do a race report by all means feel free to post a new topic on that subject and share whatever you'd like with our members!
