Weird Web stuff

I am logging on as usual and as of this morning when I click on "new posts" the entire page goes to white....blank..nothing. The browsers menu headings, tabs, etc are all in tact bu the portion of the page that the browser displays the web page (in this case the CC forum).....nothing!

I can hit refresh, back or just start over and sometimes it solves the problem, but mostly not.

Another thing I noticed is that I am able to successfully get to pages via "forum" then picking a particular forum area I want to visit.

And while there, I noticed that all signature "avatars" are no no longer displaying...for anyone.

Any one else having this issue?

Also just noticed this message in lieu of my snappy sig pic:

"To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 5 or greater. You currently have 0 posts."

Even though I am logged on and the upper right corner of my post states "1,187" posts???

I also noticed that I had to re-log on just to post this second message.

Just so you know:

Dell Precision M4300
Windows Xp
Mozilla: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.3) Gecko/2008092417 Firefox/3.0.3

I think it may have something to do with my cache or clearing my history.....but I cannot imagine why.

Yep...having to re-log in every single time I post in a thread. Have had to log in multiple times to post each time in this thread.

I went into the Mozilla control panel and stopped it from automatically clearing my private data (history, cache, authenticated sessions, cookies, etc).

Didnt seem to have fixed anything....will keep posting wierdness in hopes of isolating the problem.

Have you quit and re-started Firefox? I get the missing avatars sometimes, and re-starting the browser makes everything work again for me, but I'm also using a mac, so YMMV

"Reset" your browser, both of them... in IE, click on tools near the top right, delete browsing history and delete all. Then go to Tools > Properties > Advanced tab > hit Reset... button on the bottom.

Then in Firefox, go to tools > options > privacy and clear your browsing history, cookies and cache.

If Firefox still doesn't work, you can go to Firefox's "Safe Mode" menu to reset the entire browser... close the browser, and Mozilla Thunderbird if you have it, then Go to Start > Run and type in:

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -safe-mode

This image will come up:

Select Reset all user preferences and click restart.

Oh yea and when you log in, do it in the log-in box on the top frame on the home page (top right) and make sure "Remember me" is checked.

See if you have any extenstions or programs that provide "privacy" options, they sometimes dont allow cookies to be accepted. Oh and dont forget to make sure that you DO accept cookies!

JUst checking in......laptop still having problems. Suneet just so you know, I am already clearing all the items you spoke of, but have not tried safe mode or logging in in the upper right hand corner (my browser auto-logs me in each time I click on the CC bookmark.

I will also turn on the accept cookies function again.

Just so you know, I did make some browser changes yesterday, which is why I suspected that was the culprit to begin with....

Off to test...

I went into safe mode and read around a little before making any selections. I was afraid to undo all the bookmarks and custom stuff to it before trying a few other things, so I exited/canceled.

I went to mozilla/tools/options/privacy and clicked on "accept cookies"....and that fixed the issues.

I have such a love/hate relationship with cookies....

Problem solved. Thank you everyone.
