Ok I promised to put together some items about what Moderators/Coordinators do. So here in no particular order are some of the things that come to mind:
1) Foster discussions - chime in with something helpful to say or for example helping to answer the questions of a first time poster on the site.
2) Guidance in how to use the site - Politely letting members know how to get the most for the site, such as the proper use of search tools, remembering the goals/rules of the site, etc. You become a resource for help and understanding.
3) Promote the site - On other sites that you visit, blogs, publications, group meetings, etc. be an advocate for the site. Some have been known to wear t-shirts.
4) Move topics - When appropriate to do so move the topic to the correct forum with an expiring redirect link so as to help keep the site organized and focused.
5) Contribute - Contribute to things like the
FAQ, the photo
gallery, and especially the
Articles section - This is probably THE place I need the most assistance with the Boxster and Panamera sites, getting content and placing it on the sites. For example gathering up Panamera photos and videos and specs and getting those readily available on the site.
6) Test Items - If you are so inclined we can always use folks to test new products and develop
articles for items from our sponsors. Usually there are some special deals offered to our moderators/coordinators first which is a perk of being one.
7) Have Fun - If others see the moderators/coordinators engaging in conversations and having fun, they are more likely to do the same, and I want everyone to have fun.
I think that covers the basics, perhaps some of the existing moderators/coordinators will jump in and add anything I missed.
