They base it on weird things. Besides both domain names point here, so can't I add those sums?

No, on Wall Street you'd multiply both values together, then insure the new fictional valuation, and finally create a security whose value is leveraged 35:1 on the difference in actual valuation to the insured valuation, and sell that new security to a school board in Iceland.

It's just a little off. One of the major brands' websites I work in is valuated at $16k. Ha!
