Returning to Porsche

Well, after a brief interval back with Audi, I decided that I wanted to own a Porsche once more and, this week, ordered a 2019 Cayman GTS for delivery in the spring. The RS3 is a great car but I missed driving a Porsche. I was a little hesitant about the 4 cylinder engine but, decided that this was the best option for me at this time. I still love the 911 but wanted to get back into a 2 seater and the mid-engine layout was something I wanted to try. So, the RS3 will go on sale and I will be back to Porsche. This will be one more car in a long list of cars, including 4 Audi's, 4 Porsche's, 3 BMW's and a number of others.

So, I'll be lurking the forums here until the car is delivered. I look forward to joining the group once more and driving the Cayman come spring.

Thanks guys. Congratulations subshooter, I still love the 911 platform but wanted something different. I ordered the Cayman in Midnight Blue Metallic, not my first choice but colors were limited and, having had a metallic black and an atlas gray 911, I looked for a different color. I had a few silver cars and the same for red. I wanted something a bit more subdued that the yellow and almost went with white but decided against that. That left blue. I would have preferred a graphite blue but not available other than special order. The car order won't be finalized until January when the allocation goes in so, if Porsche changes the palette, I might change that. This is the first time I have actually ordered from allocation, having purchased both in stock and CPO, so it's the first time I'm getting everything I want and not what someone else wanted.I am looking forward to the spring.

Welcome back Michael! Since you left, I got a 991.2 and kept my 981. I hangout mostly in the Rennlist forums now though.

I just drove a 718 at PEC-ATL a couple weeks ago. I think it is a fantastic car. Initially I was down on the 718 because of the change to Turbo and 4 cylinders but I can tell you the car is just superb. It is very fast and handles remarkably well. You will be very happy. Congrats.

I wondered where you went lol. I'm not a frequent visitor to Rennlist forums...while there's some serious tech knowledge there, it's overshadowed by an over-abundance of testosterone, unhealthy doses (IMO) of red-neckedness and plain disrespect for certain groups in society. Plus, it's poorly moderated. You always seemed to me a level-headed, thoughtful Porsche owner. Do you mostly lurk/read or are you actively posting as you once did here. Not trolling or poking; wondering how you deal with the numerous and vocal a-wholes in the Rennlist community?

It is a beautiful color. I was a little concerned that the black accents would not pop with the dark color, that's why I initially thought a lighter color would be preferable. I was also pretty sure that it would be as difficult as black to keep clean. Traditionally, I wash my cars twice a year whether they need it or not.

Well, howdy Michael. I, too ,recently sold my Audi RS3 and returned to Porsche having previously owned a C4S (Midnight Blue) and then a Guards Red 911 Turbo. I was in Cincinnati, visiting some of my boys, and found a deal I just couldn't say no to. It's a 2018 Sapphire Blue Cayman GTS, and I just got it back from being tinted and PPF'd. I look forward to learning more about it as I go but I am really, really loving the sound (better than everyone makes out IMO) and the cornering is simply fantastic (go kartish) and tons of fun, especially down here on the back roads of Tennessee. :)

My wife owned a Boxster S quite a while ago so she is also loving that I have embraced the mid-engine Porsche versus the 911 platform again. But they are all wonderful IMO and I'm glad to be back. Hi Russ and congratulations again. Looking forward to your posts, car looks great. Wish Virginia allowed a darker tint on the windows.
