Faster than the Spyder, too,* by .4 sec and 2 MPH (*different days, test conditions, blah blah, but the Spyder also doesn't have PDK). It also pulled 1.06Gon a skidpad compared to .98 G in the last test.

Bottom line is that's serious grunt never seen from a base Carrera before. You cannot call this car slow. And the test car weighed 3300 lbs, so I expect a 718 S to match it unless Porsche fudged with the gear ratios.

Most importantly (due to real world usability), its 0-60 was rather quick, 3.4 seconds, which is probably indicative of the improved torque and fatter power band.

    I'm sold!

I'm curious what you're doing with your Porsche cars to even think the 991.1 base Carrera is slow. On U.S. roads, magazine performance numbers essentially stopped being applicable in the 90s. I'd never buy a base 993 Carrera and think it was too slow, let alone a 991.

Based on your past posts, it seems we simply differ on this topic. Slow isn't the word, but fast isn't either. Somewhere in the middle. Of course, it's all relative to what you're accustomed to driving.
