My first DE in this car was this past weekend at VIR (not my first DE, just in this car). It felt pretty good overall, standard 981S suspension is too soft and the alignment could use more camber front (1.1 and 1.3 now). The car was a bit understeer-oriented but not too bad. The esses felt a little unsettled, but part of that is just due to my last 2 track rides being a formula mazda and E92 M3 on stiff track coilovers and slicks...
I had an ignition coil go out, and the transmission locked me out of all gears except #2 (PDK). It was stupid hot at VIR, 90-95 ambient temp, but the oil never got over about 265-270, which is okay with me for brief stints at frequent replacement intervals. Does anyone know if the coil could have cause the trans lockout? I swapped to a new coil and the car ran great the next day.
Given how close the coils are to the headers and cats, it seems like it would be a good idea to protect them from heat more and keep more heat in the exhaust. Anyone wrapped the headers and connecting pipes or prepared a shield for the coils?
I'm going to Barber August 5 with Rezoom, so we'll see how it fares then too. You guys should come out if that's in your area, it is a very fun track.
