I've copied a large number of albums to the Jukebox but can't find a way to get the tracks to play in the original order. They default to alphabetical, which completely ruins the experience.

Have I missed a setting somewhere?

The tracks have been copied from my PC hard drive (via USB) as MP3 files.

    Cheers,

No, Unfortunately that is the way it is. Very annoying and its almost impossible and dangerous to try and click through the menus to search out a specific song or artist while driving. Typical German over engineering which is great for hardware but sucks and overcomplicates things when they do the same to software.

With that being said there is a not so intuitive workaround to get them back in sequence again in this discussion along the same lines back when the 981 first came out: https://www.planet-9.com/981-cayman-...-oddities.htm

Thanks for the confirmation. At least I don't feel quite so inadequate now. I can't believe this got through quality control. I was buying cheap Chinese MP3 players 15 years ago that could handle this. Just have to put up with the awful noise the engine makes 😉

I think if you setup something like Media Monkey to rename the tracks as Artist/Album/##-Track title for the file number then you pick the album by browsing the directory instead of using the album finder or artist UX it'll play in file number, but that might be one of my other cars that does the right thing here.

It's also annoying that I can't search for the artist U2 because it doesn't start searching until 3 characters.
Have: 1971 911 British Racing Green Hot Rod (3.2L RS flares, 915 with a Quaife semi-retired from the track) o 2013 Boxster S (6sp) Aqua over Grey for driving o 2014 Cayman S Agate Grey Metallic PDK (new track toy)
    Had: 1958 356A Cabriolet Black over Red o 1997 986 Boxster Ocean Blue Metallic/Grey o 2007 Carrera 4s Cabriolet o 1990 C2 GP White

Yes its maddening sometimes. I work for a German company in healthcare and have been dealing with stuff like this on the software side for nearly 30 years.

They are amazing at hardware design. The over thinking and forward thinking is what they are known for and why man has traveled into space, however they absolutely suck when it comes to software of any kind. Its a cultural difference of opinions, and the fact that anyone would want the tracks to be randomly played and not alphabetized in some sort of logical order is a foreign concept to them. Everything must be methodical and logical even to the detriment of the of the end user.

They also believe that software should have multiple ways to accomplish the same task, hence why the PCM in a Porsche or anything using German software of any kind will be very bloated and over complicated with 6 different ways to do everything when one simple way will suffice. Its why you can turn a knob, press an arrow button, touch a button two pages deep on the PCM screen, and on and on just to advance to the next track rather than just one simple "next" function like most other cars have.

I always say thank God Steve Jobs wasn't born German otherwise smartphones and tablets would all have 67 buttons on them controlling hundreds of different menus and a manual that was the size of a phone book.

    Re: Jukebox music order

So while some is that true itís not really a random order we want itís just use the track numbers in the metadata instead of the title. Iíve seen many cars get this wrong for what itís worth and the other maddening one is using artist instead of album artist which means you end up with one or two tracks sometimes

I did confirm what I said above works as described driving home just now

Also I had media monkey setup my key where the artists were divided into groups like this

ABC/airborne toxic event/songs of god and whiskey/01 - track name

I can dig up and post the rules I wrote for this if folks want them
