Dear 981 owners,

In order to better help us help you, I've put together a brief survey that I would like each 981 owner to answer. We will compile the results and hopefully come up with some offerings that will benefit our members. Please take a few moments to reply to this survey.

Question 1: What modifications have you made to your 981 in the last 12 months?

Question 2: What specific brands/parts have you purchased to make these modifications? (Example: XYZ Company Wheels or ABC Company ECU Tuning)

Question 3: How much did you spend making these modifications? (Estimates are fine, for example "About $2000", etc.)

Question 4: Can you briefly explain why you bought each item you listed? (Example: "Was on Sale", "I considered it the best in the market", etc.)

I appreciate any and all responses to these questions as they will help us make Planet-9 an even better place to be!

Sincerely,

Maybe too late for the survey but figured would chime in anyway.

Warning Triange - Suncoast $55.00. Not all that comfortable on the road without a spare tire.
Clear Lexan Windscreen - Pedro's $119.00 - Nothing worng with some added visibility.
Aluminum front protector - Schnell $99.00 - My driveway is treacherous.
Front and rear cargo liners - OEM $309.00 - I tend to travel with some gear that gets dirty!
Das Schild - $189.00- This should have been included from Porsche. Aluminum dings easily.
Rear and side vent grills - Zunsport $280.00 - These just look cool.
Zunsport outer grill set - Planet 9 member $150.00 - Those strakes don't provide much radiator protection.
Nose, hood, fender, mirror, headlight and rear wheel film - X-Pel $1500.00 - The metallic paint looks great; I want it to stay that way. Headlights are also expensive.
Clear LED side markers - $95.00 Sonnen - The clears look infinately better with Agate Grey.
Slime Spair - $50.00 Amazon - Heard the Porsche sealant is crap and slime will not damage TPMS sensors.
7 AH battery - $15.00 Amazon - To store behind my seat and open the frunk in case of emergency.
Cabriolet cleaning kit - $145.00 OEM - No patience to order everything seperately and case provides easy storage so the stuff wont freeze in my garage.
Covercraft Weathershield HD+ cover - $280.00 - Auto Accessories. Covercraft installed a full flannel lining. To put my baby to bed in safety and comfort.
CTEK 3300 w/lighter adapter - $65.00 Amazon - To keep the battery in tip top condition.
Stainless Steel Porsche license plate holder - $30.00 Amazon - Just to add a little bling.

That about covers it....

-> None - My configuration was - and still is - exactly what I wanted for the car!

Question 2: What specific brands/parts have you purchased to make these modifications? (Example: XYZ Company Wheels or ABC Company ECU Tuning)
-> None - See answer to question 1...

Question 3: How much did you spend making these modifications? (Estimates are fine, for example "About $2000", etc.)
-> Nothing - See answer to question 1...

Question 4: Can you briefly explain why you bought each item you listed? (Example: "Was on Sale", "I considered it the best in the market", etc.)
-> Not a single buy - See answer to question 1...

I appreciate any and all responses to these questions as they will help us make Planet-9 an even better place to be!
-> Sorry not being more helpful, but the fact is I'm quite satisfied with my 981BS as it is!
The only thing I would (and will) certainly buy is some extra horse power, when available, and if it can be obtained from some easy/minor engine/electronic tuning - kind of GTS art... ;)

Warm regards,
Pedro

1. Lowered 20mm by Porsche
2. RSS spacers - 7mm front & 15mm rear
3. Zunsport full front grilles
4. 3M film protection front and side
5. Akrapovic titanium exhaust

All in about £6.5k - not sure current $ exchange rate.
All done for various reasons, but well worth doing, looks, sounds and drives great.

I had my 2014 CS only about 7 weeks.

Question 1 3M clear full front
18in Cayman wheels with Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D tires
Sears low profile floor jack, breaker bar, torque wrench, 19mm no marr socket
brushed alum. license plate frame
Lloyd rear truck mat
Center hubs set - black w/ full color Prosche crest - for 19in Boxster wheels/tires
Porsche valve stem caps

Question 2 Porsche Caymen 18in wheels tires - dealer
3M clear bar - dealer installed
wheel changing stuff - Sears
License plate frame, rear mat, center hub set & stem caps - Suncoast

Question 3 3M clear bra Full front $1995 - Dealer install prior to delivery
18in Cayman wheel/tire winter set - $3000 - Dealer installed prior to delivery
Sears jack etc. $125
Suncoast license frams, rear mat, center hub set & stem caps - $475

Question 4 3M - Wanted front protected from day 1
18in Cayman winter wheel/tire set - Wanted to drive it & weather was still pretty cold and with the pothole roads, thought taller sidewall tires would be better. Having a winter & summer wheel/tire set
makes since for me since I plan to drive it year around except in major snow storm stuff.
Sears tire changing stuff - Sears makes good products, price was right & needed it.
Lloyd mat to protect truck, nice quality
Hub set etc. all porsche products from Suncoast - just to dress up my Cayman a little - Black center caps will looks nice & different with my Rhodium Silver CS :hilarious:

Still need to get LED side markers - hate the orange on silver and Zunsport front grills - soon, too many rocks flying about.

Picked up Anthracite Brown with Espresso Leather Cayman S MT on March 27th. Installed clear side marker lights and Zunsport Grills. Also installed OEM colored wheel crests purchased on ebay. About $375 total. Have my clear bra scheduled. I think the clear markers are most peoples' preference. The Zunsport Grills are necessary to protect the radiators and keep all the junk out. Why they are left exposed by Porsche escapes me. I skipped the colored wheel crests on my order because the option is $185 and you can buy OEM online for in my case $80.

Question 1: What modifications have you made to your 981 in the last 12 months?
Only had the Cayman S for two weeks.
Added LED Side Marker Lights (purchased before I bought the car!)
Added Porsche tinted tail lights (Hard to get off the car!)
Added Da Schild front hood protector (Easiest install of all options)
Changed to Silver Gas Gap (981 does not use push pin rivet for the tether eyelet, had to stretch old rubber-like tether off and really pull on plastic tether to get eyelet to slip over rivet.)
Added leather key covers
Added adjustable front license plate brackets

Coming soon:
Replace chrome trim on dash with a CF covering (plan to do myself)
Add carbon side trim to standard interior doors

In process: New front driveway curb and apron to prevent spoiler/underside damage $$$$

Question 2: What specific brands/parts have you purchased to make these modifications?
Side Marker, tinted tail lights, leather key chain, silver gas cap are OEM Porsche via Suncoast
Da Schild from Suncoast
Replacement OEM dashboard chrome trim from dismantled 2013 Boxster from eb*y
Center Console Trim, OEM Porsche, from Suncoast (unable to find used)
Fake carbon fiber fabric from eb*y
Tape on (std interior) door side carbon trim from DB Carbon via P9 PM
License plate bracket from Skene Designs

Question 3: How much did you spend making these modifications?
So far, ~$1150 for currently installed options

In process (in addition to above): $1335 estimated
$360 for used chrome trim from eb*y not yet installed (received yesterday)
$350 for Center console trim from Suncoast) (on back order)
$490 for standard interior door (taped on) carbon fiber trim (awaiting delivery from Germany)
$35 CF fabric for wrapping the ugly chrome parts (in hand)
May need up to $100 in epoxy resins, sand paper, etc
Note: purchased used trim to be able to experiment with CF and not destroy the original trim parts in case I decide to sell the car in the distant future.
Also, could use trim as core for professional CF dash trim if my experiment fails, If so, add $800)

Question 4: Can you briefly explain why you bought each item you listed? (Example: "Was on Sale", "I considered it the best in the market", etc.)
Had $100K dream build Cayman S in the Porsche car configurator. Found close approximation via Porsche car search tool; I bought it rather than wait for custom build and added easily changeable options to bring it closer to dream build. Once CF trim is installed, car will be as close to dream build as possible, only missing PSE, Burmester audio (has Bose), full leather interior, and Adaptive Cruise Control - of which the latter three are not feasible to upgrade (Don't have the $$$ for PSE upgrade at this time).

Clear side markers, Zunsport front condenser guards.

Question 2: What specific brands/parts have you purchased to make these modifications? (Example: XYZ Company Wheels or ABC Company ECU Tuning) Zunsport for the guards, clear side markers are Porsche.

Question 3: How much did you spend making these modifications? (Estimates are fine, for example "About $2000", etc.) About $200-250?

Question 4: Can you briefly explain why you bought each item you listed? (Example: "Was on Sale", "I considered it the best in the market", etc.)Side markers -- I succumbed to the pressure, :). Grill guards-to protect the exposed radiator screens in the front.

I appreciate any and all responses to these questions as they will help us make Planet-9 an even better place to be!

Sincerely,
Sorry this is so late but I don't come here through the home page, instead I go directly to 981 chat. For what that is worth.

Question #1: Radar/Laser Detection/Jammer, Front Side Grilles, Digital floor Liners, Clear Bra(full front, full hood, rocker panels, front of roof, rear quarter panels, side view mirrors, headlights -I think that's it), Window tinting, iPod Classic

Question #2:K40 RL 360i, Zunsport, WeatherTech, SunTek, Apple

Question #3: $4000-4500

Question #4:Have always had radar systems-like the concealed/stealth installation, like to drive in a spirited manner! The front grilles provide a more finished look and protect the radiators--Zunsport makes the best looking ones. The floor liners fit perfectly and do a better job of protecting the carpet from the elements. THe PPF for protection and SunTek for lack of color change to the White color. SunTek for the Window Tinting---like the look and keeps out the UV rays. Apple iPod Classic for listening to my collection music during those long spirited drives!

I forgot three mods.
1. Remove warning labels on sun visors--cost 0 since I had the stuff on hand to do the job, why? I dislike the labels.
2. Added new Escort 9500iX radar detector, cost about $550 Why? First speeding ticket in 30+ years due to a speed camera, all have since been turned off in Tucson area, sigh.
3. Porsche crested tire valve stem caps, cost <$20 Why? I like em.
