    Dashboard rattles in a 981

While driving home from a golf tournament with a buddy, he commented that my “fancy” car has a lot of rattle in the dash.

Funny how I tune that out when I’m with myself, but he was right!

I’m guessing that this is the result of driving over too many “lumpy” roads.

Anyone notice this in your car — and isolated rattle to be “tightened” t o turn me them oiut?

Not here....my "new to me" 2014 S is pretty buttoned up for a relatively stiffly sprung car. The only thing that bugs me is the passenger seat belt buckle rattles against the plastic panel it rests against when I'm driving solo. Should be an easy fix with a strip of foam insulation or something.

There is a known issue with rattle in the area of gauges. My car had it intermittenly, like once in 10k miles for a few days People say it related to the fuel tank insulation. There are a thread here somewhere for it.

That issue sounds more like a squeak from the pedal area and is more evident in high temperatures and a full tank, at least when I had it.

Update --- I don't know if I solved the problem totally, but let me tell you how much that nice Porsche aluminum thermo-mug can rattle in the glove box! Boy, am I embarrassed !!

Too funny! I was going to ask if you completely emptied out the car too!

I had the exact same Duh moment occur when I thought something was going on up front with a suspension clunk as I would start and stop my car.

That is until I recalled I had placed a heavy object in the frunk a few weeks earlier that was flopping back and forth causing a thud.

At least it was an easy fix!

For the passenger seat belt rattle, be sure the little keeper "button" in the strap is pulled up all the way to the metal and plastic belt "latch" (a better word escapes me) piece - i.e., the male side of the belt mechanical anchor system that you click into the female side next to the seat. Doing this has eliminated 99% of the noise for me.
