Need help with my iCarsoft scan tool - resetting airbag light

I've tried everything I can think of to get the airbag light off, no deal. It's not easy understanding the diagnostic process on my Microsoft scan tool, so I may not be doing what I should to reset it. Any help will be appreciated.

I can tell you it won't be easy if not impossible. If you installed a 'race seat' and removed the Porsche harness the system doesn't 'see' the seat's air bag termination and as such triggers the air bag light. As far as I know none of the simple OBD tools or even the Durametric will override the air bag error. A Porsche PIWIS can do it but dealers and independents won't defeat it due to liability reasons.

I've tried resistive network simulators and none were successful. I've learned to live with and/or ignore the little red air bag icon.

For what it's worth the rest of the air bags are fully functional even w/ the air bag 'warning' light on.

    Good luck . .

I failed to mention the reason the airbag light is on. I pulled my steering wheel several times to install different versions of the adapter Li Paul was testing for the bluetooth Mode switch feature he developed. I always took the battery cable off and never switched the ignition on while doing this, but somewhere along the line the light came on and has been on ever since. I'm used to it, but I got the iCarsoft unit (PORII) to reset the service reminders and hoped it would also turn off the light. I tried every way I could see on the scan tool to do it, but may have missed one, just asking if it can be done. No wires were pulled except the ones in the steering wheel, and the battery cable was always disconnected while I did it. I got to where I could pull the airbag and install a new adapter, reinstall the bag and have everything buttoned up in about 10 minutes(not counting the 20-30 minutes I waited after removing the negative terminal cable of the battery).

I've read on P-9 that once the airbag light is on, only the dealer can shut it off with PIWIS. I'm not an expert though.

I got it off. It might have been from my first attempt, I just needed to start the car twice. I just finished scanning again and used the "clear fault codes" option, but in any case the light is off now. ICarsoft is neat! I found a lot of things that I have no idea of the meaning, but it appears to be as powerful as the Durametric. Thanks for the replies.

Just be careful resetting codes especially if you are about to be due any emissions testing. Clearing them resets all of the needed emissions ready test data and your car will fail unless it has had the time to see all of the many different situations required to get all of the internal testing back to the ready state again. This can take a lot of miles and a long time if your car is not a daily driver. The good news is the device itself can also show you if anything is in the not ready state so you dont waste your money testing for no reason.

My state doesn't require any type of inspections, so that's not a worry for me. I only reset the airbag anyway, but its cool I guess to have so much info, if I only had sense enough to interpret it!

Re: Need help with my iCarsoft scan tool - resetting airbag light

Its the iCarsoft POR II, here's the link: https://www.amazon.com/iCarsoft-Diag...g%2C167&sr=1-4

I had bought a Launch Creader but never could get it to work, so sold it and got the iCarsoft one. BTW, I did an update to it before trying to reset the airbag light, but I don't know if that helped or not. Anyway, it worked. I went to YouTube to look at some vids and one suggested that after resetting the light you had to start the car twice before the light would extinguish, which was my experience.
