    Changing out brake pads and rotors at 40k. Normal for a DD with no track time?

    I've been noticing that my brakes have been squealing really loud the last few weeks so I finally took a look at the pads and noticed the front are worn down to less than the thickness of the backing so its time to change. The rotors also have a pretty good lip on them so it seems like I'll have to change those too. With only 40k of DD street driving, is it normal for the pads to wear down that fast? The rears are actually ok but if I'm planning to change to a ceramic pad it seems like it would be better to change all 4 corners at the same time.

    The front brakes do most of the work, so they can wear down first. Personally, 40K miles is good. Fortunately stock rotors and pads are reasonable.

    40K miles on front brakes is not "fast". Have you gotten a dashboard warning? You should. That mileage is probably better than normal for any brand sports car.

    25k but I did have 3 one day auto cross events which really don't challenge the brakes that much.
