What Did you Pay For your 987.2?

Curious what folks have been paying for a 987.2 Cayman recently (preferably private sale)? 6-MT, base and S. These cars are so rare, it's hard to get pricing data. I see a lot of variation in asking price. Thanks!

I'm in CA (Bay Area) & bought my CS in Oct 2015 so probably too long ago to be useful. It's a CS Black Edition, yadda yadda (see sig), had 49k miles when I bought it, so if you are interested in pricing info, pm me.

I am a dealer in NY and I own a 2011 Cayman S, 38000 miles, I plan on selling it at the auction in PA this spring. From auction sales that I've seen the prices are pretty strong. There just aren't a lot of examples around, and the more specific you get with the options/miles etc the harder it gets to find them. The retail value of mine per NADA is still near $41000. the 2012 Cayman Rs are already in collector status and carry a relatively large prem, I kind of think that will trickle down the lineup as they become more and more scarce, and 911 values hold firm as they have been.

I dont have as much auction data as you may have access to, but your statements holds true for 987.2 and 997.2

The prices for 987.1 AND 997.1 are falling rapidly, not as bad as 996 prices, but people are picking up 997 and 997S cars (not high mileage) for low to mid 30s all the time. 987.1 and 987.1 S can be had for low to Mid 20s (caymans - Boxsters are even cheaper) , you just have to look outside major metropolitans, several examples available.

2010 Boxster S, PDK, Sport Chrono, 80k miles. I paid $27k for it 5 years ago from a private seller, and it came with an extra set of wheels I sold for $2k so cost was actually more like $25k. Nothing wrong with it, either; at least nothing that's shown up in 5 years, 40k miles, and a lot of hard driving. KBB is $23k for it now.

I paid less than 35k for a 2010 CS manual with 46,000 miles at the end of the year. I've noticed CS usually go for more at dealers, mine was bought from a fellow car enthusiast and I knew its history.

This car is not heavily optioned: standard stereo, bi-xenon, climate control, 3.5mm audio plug, 18" wheels, etc. It did come with the Porsche red spare wheel! I've been meaning to find a solution for mounting it properly.

I couldn't be happier as I'd been looking at some pretty awful base Caymans around the 30k mark.

06-2017, Paid $26K at a dealer for a 2010 Cayman 6MT base w/ 60k miles. Serviced every 10K miles at a porsche dealer, very clean inside and out. Got free delivery of the car to my home (2 hours away). The car was $62K MSRP. I did end up doing the entire 60K mile maintenance myself, in addition to new brakes and the clutch [I mean shifter] cable broke 1k miles after I bought it, so i did the "updated" cable kit from Porsche to fix that. Saved thousands doing it all myself, I'd be pissed if I had to get a shop to do that work.

Here's the option's on the car:
Heated Front Seats
18" Cayman S II wheel
Sound Package Plus
Automatic Climate Control
Bluetooth Interface for Mobile Phone
XM Radio
Floor Mats in Interior Color
Universal Audio Interface
Black Standard Leather
PCM 3.0 w/ Extended Navigation
Arctic Silver Metallic
Porsche Crest in Headrest
Seat Belts - Silver

You mean shifter cables I assume? I thought this car has a hydraulic clutch release.

Curious why you didn't go for the Numeric Racing cables, do tell.

Picked up my 09 Base Cayman with 14k miles for $29k in January. It's a 2 owner, previously CPO car with a clean carfax and service records from the previous owner.

I wasn't planning on pulling the trigger so quickly, but it checked all the boxes - sport seats, BOSE sound, bi-xenon's, heated seats, aux input, 19" turbo wheels - so I had to move on it. It seems that mileage doesn't really change the value on these cars too much as I looked at multiple other similarly (or less) equipped cars in the low $30s with 40-60k on the clock.

Alright! I am curious as to what my 2010 CS is worth now. She's been my DD for the last 3 years n 1 month and I added about 25k miles which brings the total miles to 51k. Never been tracked, mostly garaged, more build details are in my signature. It's hard to imagine that I cannot have her after March as my wife is due last week of March. I would need a third seat plus a little more of storage space to fit the stroller and other baby stuff so I think even a 911 may not be an option. I haven't decided on my next vehicle but probably it will be an SUV. I feel I am so addicted to the power and handling of the CS, its hard to decide on the next vehicle, any suggestions are welcome!

The problem with the stock cables is they are just not strong enough. Since I have been making the Numeric Cables( 7 years) we have not had one single cable break. The cabin noise is so insignificant most people don't even notice. If you are concerned with it you can also buy the silicone tubing we sell to insulate the cables. It is also important that the rubber grommet for the firewall is reinstalled. If you have exhaust system on your car well then you will never really hear anything over it.

I thought I'd just give you guys a little insight on some up to the minute market conditions for your beloved 987.2, I have mentioned before that I am a dealer and a Porsche/Cayman enthusiast. I literally just sold my 2011 Cayman S with 38,900 miles at Manheim Auto Auction. The actual specs of my car were pretty spartan, black/black, SC, 18s, memory seats. Original sticker was $71,xxx. My car was in excellent condition, only a minor scuff under the front overhang, like many of these cars get, no paint work, and clean pedigree. With all that said, on the block it brought $37,000. So that is hard actual data from the horses mouth. If you are looking to trade in a similar car, you can expect your dealer to give you less than that, simply for the reason they will need to prep the car for sale, any sort of shop bills. But the Actual Cash Value for that year and miles and condition is in that range. Cheers.
