So I'm working on putting together a project to put stock seat heaters into my 987.2. It appears to be an impossible task - but I choose to do this and the other things not because they are easy, but because they are hard. Actually, I just want to enjoy my new to me boxster into the spring and fall a little more.
The problem I'm having is that there appear to be resources for the 986, wiring diagrams etc available on the internet but nothing for a 2011 987.2. I've installed a new AC controller with seat heater buttons but am having having real difficulty learning if my 12 way power seats already have heating elements in them that just need to be turned on? Or if I need to purchase new elements/cushions. Shop manual says that heating elements are now only sold in cushions. Oh, then there's the issue about what gets connected to what. Went to the dealer the other day and asked if a technician could guide me/help if I paid for their time and was told they couldn't due to liability reasons.
So here are my specific questions for this group...
1) Is it true that the seat heater connection goes from the AC Controller, to the front computer and from the front computer to the seat heating elements? If this is the case does the front computer need to be replaced with one that had standard heated seats added? Or is this a modifiable feature on a PIWIS?
2) Two of the four pin sections on my AC controller were unoccupied when I replaced my old one with the new one with the seat heater buttons on it (banks 1&3 were occupied, 2&4 were not). Does anybody have a wiring diagram for where the AC controller connections run to on the electronics side?
I think if I can get those two questions answered I'll be headed in the right direction. Love my car, and I don't mind the challenge of solving an interesting engineering issue for me.
