Cool oil light reset before interval

Ok since my son is taking the Prius from me the Boxster is going to be my daily. I want to change my oil before its interval. I changed it 7 months ago. What I would like to know is after changing my oil can I reset the oil light/interval even if the light reminder never came on. Is there a way to figure out if it actually reset. I am using Autel Maxicheck MX808.

Yes. I have had my Cayman over 4 years and never seen the service reminder. I change the oil every 5000 miles and do the reset. Even though you do not see the reminder, you know it resets because the MPG, speed average info goes to 0 and the clock goes to 12 AM.

I forgot to mention that I actually have only performed 1 oil change on the Boxster. I purchased the Autel Maxicheck MX808 for my Panny turbo. I found some sequence to reset the Boxster off of Youtube. I can't say I recall seeing the MPG reset or the clock going to 12am, but then again that was over 7 months ago. So hopefully the Autel unit is compatible with the Boxster and I will lookout for the mpg and clock...thanks alot....
