Also, the 19" get 235/255 rubber and the 20" get 265/295" rubber. So its a cosmetic thing where everyone want the wider rear size, the same size as the 991 rears.
It's also a "performance thing". Although a CUV, a lot of people buy into the marketing hype of 911 DNA and its a "sports car" of CUVs. So they want ALL the performance options. Its kind of funny to see people spec cars base level (i.e.. S level) cars with ALL the performance options and then in the sports cars people will not get SPASM, PTV+, or PDCC, etc. I think Porsche is doing very well in selling an image.
But, I understand your confusion. When I first specced one out I had 19" as it made sense to me too for a CUV. I really think Porsche is doing a great job of getting every penny out of these buyers.

Thanks. I see what you're saying. I just could not understand the extra expense and issues that come with larger wheels on a CUV. BTW, to me, a CUV is just a small SUV, not a sports car. I have 20 inch wheels on my DD and I swap them out for 19 inch winter wheels every year. Frankly, I think the 19's feel better and I'm not sure that I would have up-sized just for aesthetics.
That said, there are people from the Great White North who are a bit wiser and buy the 19" and then put the snows on 18". I think its a life experience thing.
It was a late release - just like the sport exhaust. From what my dealer / sales manager told me, it is the same exhaust (BASICALLY _ don't flame me for this - he said it) as on the Cayenne GTS.
Also, the 20" wheels gave a much firmer ride than the 19". I guess it is the reduced aspect ratio which helps more than the increase in width, but it drives much more like a sport truck with the 20" wheels...
Is it an all wheel drive Cayman - NO.
But, if anyone out there remembers the GMC Typhoon from the early '90's - It kinda comes close to that..........
Delivered February 14, 2015
2015 Macan S in Impulse Red metallic. Sun roof, Comfort Interior in red and black.
Bose PCM w/ Nav. 20" mesh wheels, PDK, PASM, Sport exhaust.
What a Happy Valentines to me !
Cayenne GTS sounds good. There are really no aftermarket exhausts yet for the Macan. If you took a test drive, I found it way, way to quiet. So the PSE is probably a good idea. I'm sure you know there is list of small annoying things going on that you should be aware of that are first year "bugs". The most common ones are: door panels not aligning correctly as they expand in the heat, blurry rear view cameras, alarm doesn't work in that you have to shut off the interior sensor, rear wipers dripping fluid, and some cars are not getting spare tires as the supply chain has to catch up with the demand.
GOOD LUCK. I really want to see Impulse Red because I'm partial to GR and if I pick up a Macan, I think all the other colors are pretty boring ...
I am a frequent visitor at the Porsche dealership in Regensburg and after 8 - 10 various sound tests, IMO neither sound upgrade option (Bose/Burmester) is worth the money. Granted, the Burmester sounds pretty good but for the money, you could have the vehicle outfitted with your choice of quality speakers / amps and come out ahead. In my case, I will replace the stock system with all Focal.
We just ordered our Macan but don't pickup in Zuffenhausen until April 2015, but does anyone know where to get the 911 Turbo design wheels in 20"? I can find the 21" but think they may negatively affect handling / ride comfort.

Bose is awful, way to much bass. In an awkward ways, cease I like base, but the Bose is not balanced. And Burmester is silly money. So I went down the base system plus PCM.
My Macan is anyway a pretty basic car, just the 14-way sportseats (precondition coming from my wife), leather instead of Alcantara, tow hook, cruise control, multifunction, park distance, heated seats, mobile connection. Grey colour and leather. Standard rims in 18 inch and no PASM, we didn't like it (either too soft or too harsh, standard will be in between and just fine). It's the Diesel engine, so it is a cruiser for me. For B-road blasts I have a Cayman R.
ray.lol, we might meet each other in Stuttgart. Delivery in April!
