    Re: Macan S Configuration

A question: Why go to 20 inch wheels on a CUV? I've been looking at the configurator and, other than looks, I can's see a benefit. I would think that the 19 inch wheels would ride better.

Got both the infotainment, and the lux package.
    PASM, but no air suspension.
Spider 20" wheels with All Seasons.
Leather package, on the base seats, so that the inserts are red, not the whole seat.
December delivery. Hopefully, no snow till then, I only have my Boxster as a daily driver right now!

129 can speak for himself but from my reading and how I had a turbo specced, virtually nobody buys the 19" wheels. 20" is by far the most popular size with a surprising number of people buying the 21" with summer tires and then getting a second set of 20" for winter tiresicon.

Also, the 19" get 235/255 rubber and the 20" get 265/295" rubber. So its a cosmetic thing where everyone want the wider rear size, the same size as the 991 rears.

It's also a "performance thing". Although a CUV, a lot of people buy into the marketing hype of 911 DNA and its a "sports car" of CUVs. So they want ALL the performance options. Its kind of funny to see people spec cars base level (i.e.. S level) cars with ALL the performance options and then in the sports cars people will not get SPASM, PTV+, or PDCC, etc. I think Porsche is doing very well in selling an image.

But, I understand your confusion. When I first specced one out I had 19" as it made sense to me too for a CUV. I really think Porsche is doing a great job of getting every penny out of these buyers.

Thanks. I see what you're saying. I just could not understand the extra expense and issues that come with larger wheels on a CUV. BTW, to me, a CUV is just a small SUV, not a sports car. I have 20 inch wheels on my DD and I swap them out for 19 inch winter wheels every year. Frankly, I think the 19's feel better and I'm not sure that I would have up-sized just for aesthetics.

Totally agree. It's not a sport car by any possible definition. But some people believe advertisements. Sports cars get all the fancy wheels so they buy the fancy wheels. For many, its also their first Porsche so you gotta add $20K to that $50K base price.

That said, there are people from the Great White North who are a bit wiser and buy the 19" and then put the snows on 18". I think its a life experience thing.

I ask because the pictures I've seen make the car almost pink, not darker than Guards Red, but pink. You are the first person I've read who has ordered that color.

See these pictures. Pix 1, Pix 2, Pix 3

You think that is darker than GR? That is why I am asking if you have seen it in person because red does not photograph well in digital images. Just trying to make sure you know the color you are really getting and not have a surprise.
Yes, I've seen the actual color "plate" at the dealer. Both at night, under sodium (yellowish) lighting and, just last Saturday, we took the sample outside and held it next to a Guards Red Cayman. It is a really nice metalic, with a little less yellow in it than Guards. The issue has been that it has not been available for order on Macans until just now - hence there are not any Macan's out there in the color - Yet.
It was a late release - just like the sport exhaust. From what my dealer / sales manager told me, it is the same exhaust (BASICALLY _ don't flame me for this - he said it) as on the Cayenne GTS.
Also, the 20" wheels gave a much firmer ride than the 19". I guess it is the reduced aspect ratio which helps more than the increase in width, but it drives much more like a sport truck with the 20" wheels...
Is it an all wheel drive Cayman - NO.
But, if anyone out there remembers the GMC Typhoon from the early '90's - It kinda comes close to that..........
    Delivered February 14, 2015
2015 Macan S in Impulse Red metallic. Sun roof, Comfort Interior in red and black.
Bose PCM w/ Nav. 20" mesh wheels, PDK, PASM, Sport exhaust.
What a Happy Valentines to me !

Good. I would hate to buy a car with color unseen and you are, literally, the first person I've heard of who ordered Impulse Red. The pictures I linked to came from Europe as their launch was much earlier than North America. When you get your car, please post pictures because that will be a unique color.

Cayenne GTS sounds good. There are really no aftermarket exhausts yet for the Macan. If you took a test drive, I found it way, way to quiet. So the PSE is probably a good idea. I'm sure you know there is list of small annoying things going on that you should be aware of that are first year "bugs". The most common ones are: door panels not aligning correctly as they expand in the heat, blurry rear view cameras, alarm doesn't work in that you have to shut off the interior sensor, rear wipers dripping fluid, and some cars are not getting spare tires as the supply chain has to catch up with the demand.

GOOD LUCK. I really want to see Impulse Red because I'm partial to GR and if I pick up a Macan, I think all the other colors are pretty boring ...

    Re: Macan S Configuration

I am a frequent visitor at the Porsche dealership in Regensburg and after 8 - 10 various sound tests, IMO neither sound upgrade option (Bose/Burmester) is worth the money. Granted, the Burmester sounds pretty good but for the money, you could have the vehicle outfitted with your choice of quality speakers / amps and come out ahead. In my case, I will replace the stock system with all Focal.

We just ordered our Macan but don't pickup in Zuffenhausen until April 2015, but does anyone know where to get the 911 Turbo design wheels in 20"? I can find the 21" but think they may negatively affect handling / ride comfort.

    Re: Macan S Configuration

Bose is awful, way to much bass. In an awkward ways, cease I like base, but the Bose is not balanced. And Burmester is silly money. So I went down the base system plus PCM.

My Macan is anyway a pretty basic car, just the 14-way sportseats (precondition coming from my wife), leather instead of Alcantara, tow hook, cruise control, multifunction, park distance, heated seats, mobile connection. Grey colour and leather. Standard rims in 18 inch and no PASM, we didn't like it (either too soft or too harsh, standard will be in between and just fine). It's the Diesel engine, so it is a cruiser for me. For B-road blasts I have a Cayman R.

ray.lol, we might meet each other in Stuttgart. Delivery in April!
