  1. Stuck on Opening Frunk

981 Cayman and Boxster Service and Tech
I had this problem with my 2011 Boxster S with PDK. I had battery out of car and stupidly closed the frunk. Dumb move, done without thinking, I hooked up a 12v jumper battery cable to fuse box with ground to door hardware, just as outlined in manual. I had a good battery but there was no...
  2. PDK Sports Plus Shortshifting

981 Cayman and Boxster Problems and Complaints
Whatever works is fine. I am 70+ years old and have never been in a shifter cart so your logic doesn't really register with me. I screwup the paddles too often when pushing hard. Maybe you can't teach an old dog new tricks, that could be my problem. In the past I have watched European sedan...
  3. PDK Sports Plus Shortshifting

981 Cayman and Boxster Problems and Complaints
I have shifted PDK both ways, with paddles and using the PDK knob in manual mode. I really prefer to use the PDK knob in manual mode. It is faster and more intuitive for me, i.e. push forward to go up a gear and pull back to go down. When I'm are on the track going fast I don't want to have...
  4. PDK Sports Plus Shortshifting

981 Cayman and Boxster Problems and Complaints
No, never considered that modification, but it could not hurt. I just never use auto PDK anymore on the track. Even on long tracks it does unnecessary shifting. On track, I like to decide when to shift and I want to choose what gear I am running. Auto PDK eliminates thinking about gears and...
  5. PDK Sports Plus Shortshifting

981 Cayman and Boxster Problems and Complaints
I had this same problem with my 2011 Boxster S. Several years ago, first time out with this car, I was driving at Gingerman Raceway - at that time a 1.9 miles mile track with 11 corners - I was letting the PDK shift for itself in sport mode. After about 10 minutes of track time it went into...
  6. Jump Starter for a 718?

    718 Chat
Be careful with that off/on screw terminal switch. When you drive the screw-on knob can become loose. I used one of these terminal switches on my 2011 987.2 and it worked fine until it did not work. I was out driving and stopped, and shut off the engine. But when I tried to restart the car...
  7. fuel door emergency release

    987 Cayman and Boxster Chat
I had strange thing happen to the fuel door on my 2003 Boxster S. I think the Cayman probably has a similar quirk. Here is the story: The Boxster was inactive for a few weeks and the the electrical system shut down (that is normal). My key fob would not open the car. I opened the door with...
  8. Cayman Wheel Options.....Räderwerks.com

    Porsche Tires & Wheels
Thanks for the info. My aggesssive track days are behind me (hit 70 last month), so wheel weight is not much of a consideration. I cruise at about 8/10's, and do it just for fun, no lap records. They are very nice wheels. I love the CS but am lukewarm about the OEM 18" wheels, Raderwerks has...
  9. Cayman Wheel Options.....Räderwerks.com

    Porsche Tires & Wheels
I like your wheels a lot, very reasonably priced and a great selection of styles and sizes. But are they useable as track wheels? Are there any formal wheel safety certifications that would make me comfortable in putting these wheels on my CS and hitting the track at Road America at 140+ mph...
  10. Enkei NT03-M Wheels

    Porsche Tires & Wheels
Does anyone have a photo to post of a Cayman with the Enkei wheels? I did a search and came up with a lot of mentions of Enkei wheels but no actual photos. I checked out the simulated pictures on the Tire Rack site, but it would be nice to see an actual photo. I notice that this question has...
  11. Explain This One

    987 Cayman and Boxster Electronics
The Cayman key fob is very sensitive. Sometimes I have locked my car, put the key in the pocket of my tight jeans, and start to walk away, and the car unlocks itself. That fob has a hair trigger! I think it would be very easy to activate it just by hitting the fob with your wallet.
  12. If you want PCA Badge - PLEASE FOLLOW DIRECTIONS!!!

    987 Cayman and Boxster Chat
I have been a PCA member since 1990. What is a badge? You mean the decal? Where do I wear the badge? On my car? On my lapel? Seriously, what is a badge, am I missing something that I should have gotten 18 years ago?
  13. Making an FM Transmitter iPOD connection work in busy NA areas!

    987 Cayman and Boxster Electronics
The first time I hooked up using the Monster in my wife's C6 Corvette, everything worked OK, except that I discovered that I could not shutoff my iPod. It was locked in the "on" position. I have a 2 Gig Nano. I restored it using the iTunes site and it now works fine. These iPods are stange...
  14. Making an FM Transmitter iPOD connection work in busy NA areas!

    987 Cayman and Boxster Electronics
This is a great tip about how to integrate the iPod into any vehicle that has a radio without an input jack. I did this in my wife's C6 Corvette and it works great. Why spend the money to hardwire an iPod when you can do it this way. I got the iCar 200 on Amazon for $49.95. Amazing how well...
  15. More legroom than Boxster?

    987 Cayman and Boxster Comparisons
The legroom in the CS is much better than in my 2003 Boxster S. In the Boxster, if you raise the seat to its max, the seat hits the rollbar before it can get all the way to the rear. Raising or lowering the seat on both cars can have an impact on legroom. You have to experiment with both seat...
