I quoted the Maxflo Muffler to L.A. which via Ground shipment will cost $60.

Interested in a race exhaust for my 2012 manual cayman r, but I have the PSE and am curious if that creates any challenges for installing an aftermarket.
Any extra hoses or CEL because of the vacuum button?
The Race Exhaust is still a direct replacement, you will just "plug" the vacuum lines but there will be no CEL for this.

I've had a set ordered through my dealer about 2 weeks ago. Can i get the group price?
I just emailed regarding this situation.

Can I run the Race Exhaust at Lime Rock Park?
Thanks
I believe the Race Exhaust just pushes the limit at Lime Rock. Even with the OEM headers the system is very aggressive and will surely fail the DB's at WOT.

I'm considering this GB but as a relative newcomer to the Porsche ranks, I have a question that I hope someone can answer with some authority. A local exhaust shop has fabricated a number of exhausts for my past cars, but some posts I've read in the forums seem to indicate that getting them to do this for my CS might not be a good idea. I have no idea at this moment what their price might be - I just want to know if it's even worth approaching them.

:thanks:

The fabspeed exhausts with their flex sections, swiveling v-clamp joints and show car polish are very nicely done. I have bought and built many exhuasts for my cars over the years and and have been very pleased with their race exhaust and long tube headers.

Even if you forget everything K-Man says above the bigget issue for me with a custom made system is the sound. An exhaust system can be tuned to a desired sound, but that is a time consuming process if you want to get the right sound.

I had a friend who had a custom system made for his 986 and it was just horrible according to him, and far too loud even compared to other "loud" systems on the market.

At least with systems already out there, like those from fabspeed, there are videos to watch and owners comments to read that enable you to judge for yourself if the sound etc. is right for you. If you then want to add your own flare to it then you can always have custom tips made and installed.

IMO, this talk of the ins & outs of custom exhausts is off topic. This thread was started by a site sponsor to offer special pricing to site members and track the purchases for the purpose of the GB.

That said, there's no way a custom shop could design and build a high quality cat-back system like Fabspeed's - using the same quality and finish and tuning R&D, for anywhere near the price of these products. The GB just makes it sweeter.

Just wondering what you plan to achieve over the Borla? Only reason I ask is that I ordered a Borla a couple weeks ago that I haven't had a chance to install it yet. Love the tone of the Race exhaust but worried it may be a little loud for everyday non-track purpose.

Florida yes, you are not deleting the primary cats, plus we don't have state inspections so you are all good. I am in Tampa and going with the Race exhaust.

On a side note I had a Mustang many moons ago with headers, X pipe and resonators.
Was so loud it would consistently set off car alarms in a regular parking lot not even a garage and I never had a problem with the cops.

That's a personal thing. The race exhaust is significantly louder than the Maxflo and so that is the factor to consider and how loud is too loud for you to live with for your use of your Cayman.

Someobdy mentioned they were swapping their Borla for the race exhaust, but for me the Borla is the perfect volume and already plenty loud (probably similar to the Maxflo), but that's simply my preference.

Boring question...

For a better understanding of the exhaust volume can you provide some dB numbers. A stationary sound test at 0.5 metres from the tail pipe and 3,750 rpm would give a very useful reference point. Stock CR is approx. 94 dB.
