    I got $3K off a 2007 Cayman. I'm paying $562/mo on a 36mo, 10K/yr lease.

I think it's phenomenal that sales of this great car have been holding steady. . .

    Updated for Feb 2007.

Note sales are at an all-time low (Not unusual for the month of Feb), and the Cayman model outsold the Cayman S model.

Should be interesting to see what happens in March!

Well, I did my best to help with the Cayman sales in March. I suppose I could have bought two cars

Most acquaintances of mine are surprised to hear this, they generally believe Porsches sell at or near MSRP.
I'm negotiating now for a 07 cayman s out of Atlanta.......The techart (17k) has a markup of 2k and approximately 6k in options.......Via our bartering they are willing to take 6k off the overall price..........I genuinely believe the "deal" has to do with your region, time of year, inventory on hand, etc..........Hope this helps........

If you look at Cayman S Volume in Jul 06 at 446 units (same month as intro of base Cayman) and compare that to Feb 07 sales of 151 units that is a two thirds drop! Even if you exclude the Feb data that is signifigant. Some economic factors are in play on the negative side but Porsche will reduce volume to maintain price for its dealer network's profit margins. Remember also that our manual states that 2/3's of all Porsche's are still on the road and if there is too much supply of new cars the used market will drop and previous owners will be discouraged. It is simple supply and demand and Porsche will maintain price at all costs.

ocwaterguy don't be too quick to judge, go look a the March results - 598 Caymans sold! Up from February and up from March 06! If I were to extrapolate one month as a trend I would say Porsche has increased production and is hiring more factory workers. However, I'm not saying that, I'm simply saying sales rebounded quite well in March!

    K-Man S,

Thanks for the March 07 update. The year over year increase for all Caymans shows good continuing demand. It is interesting that the S is again outselling the 2.7. I wonder if it will continue in the coming months now that the 2.7 is widely available.

I don't know about you guys in the USA, but here in the Far East, seems that there is NO inventory and waiting lists are well into December. The figures are what has been delivered, not real sales. SALES are waitlisted to near eternity here.

The numbers are purely due to the deliverability power Porsche has. It is a actual number of allocated production. Not sales.

Well, whenever K-Man S updates the sales figures for April 07, I will be in that statistic...my dealer offered me what I call silly, crazy money for my 01 986 S, and I now have a Cayman S in my garage...this is the 10th Porsche that I've owned, and so far, I think it's the best of them all...

I'v updated the first post to include April 2007 sales. Interestingly enough identical numbers to January but a different spread. I would expect sales to fall in May as 2007's are no longer able to be ordered and people have to wait for 2008's.

Very interesting to me is that the new Cayenne had a full month of sales in April and the Cayenne S managed to sell 12 units LESS than the same time last year with the old model. It seems to me that while Cayenne sales had tanked that the new model only brought them back so far and will likely degrade from here. Given the current poor sales of the Boxster it would seem likely that we'll see a change there sooner as opposed to later, just dropping the 3.4L engine into the Boxster hasn't been enough to halt its slide.

The 911? Even the total numbers are off and that's with the Turbo selling 306 units vs 0 last year! Take the Turbo and GT3 out of the equation and 911 sales would have fallen by over 40%!!!

Hmmm direct injection, PDK, can these be that far away now?

While those aren't 944 numbers, that's still a lot of Porsches sold. It's to be expected that there will be a tapering off of sales after the first year, since some have been waiting a long time for a Porsche to build this car. In my case, about 30 years.

Bought my 2006 S in January 2007 and the dealers Business Manager complained that the dealership made $12.00 after the salesman's commission. I got a $10,000.00 discount off sticker price (-18%) . Made me feel pretty good...no complaints from me!

Updated to include May 07 sales, I was wrong, sales were up in May, dealers must be trying to blow out the 07's before the 08's start arriving or before buyers get wind of any changes for 08. Any way you slice it, Cayman sales continue to be strong and fairly consistent.

Updated for June 2007, sales continue to be consistent despite the fact that you couldn't order a new base model recently while Porsche prepares for the model year change over.

Doesn't Porsche count a car as sold when the owner takes delivery? This is a common accounting procedure, especially since Sarbanes Oxley rules took affect. Just curious.

It's great to see the healthy sales continue in the second model year.

Trend Becoming More Apparent With Time

Having looked on EBay at completed auctions for Cayman last night, I saw that very few actually sold. It was astounding to see that out of 20 listed for sale, less than 2 sold! Far less than 2.

I think Porsche knows something. There are a lot of C's and CS's out there that people are unable to sell anywhere near what they want for them. I think we're going to used CS's in the $40K range quite soon.

Sorry for the news, but the trend is becoming more apparent.
