Sounds like none of the exhaust gaskets are in place, or the manifolds are loose.
  3. TPMS v Longacre tire pressure gauge

981 Cayman and Boxster Problems and Complaints
Yep, I've seen that before and I won't go there either. I have 3 gauges and for me calibration is by majority rule. But of course, how do you know that the majority is correct? Make the sample size larger! Etc.. I was just hoping maybe someone had a good trick up their sleeve. 😬

How do you calibrate your gauge?
  5. TPMS v Longacre tire pressure gauge

Try multiple gauges. That should give you a better idea. I have 3 and 2 match. The 3rd is off about 1-2 lb.
  6. Torque Wrench

    981 Chat
My 3/8" torque wrench is also a tool sale special and it works fine as well. I do the same with this wrench as with my Craftsman, occasionally comparing it against a beam wrench. It's always been accurate. Why have both? The clickers are just easier to use. I think the beams are more...
  7. Torque Wrench

    981 Chat
Buy a good click-type, not a beam-type. Unwind to <20lb-ft after every use. BTW, I do have a beam wrench and use it occasionally to check the clicker. They always closely match. I have a Craftsman. It's good consumer grade. I'd say you don't need Snap-on, etc. I'd suggest a Google search...

It would be nice if we could do a left swipe - or right if you prefer - and get to the next thread. Make it user configurable to be either next thread or next unread thread.
  10. Would you buy a car with that was in an accident with well documented restoration?

    987 Cayman and Boxster Chat
The one on the PCA site is unfortunately black Basalt Black Metallic with a Stone Grey interior. Here's the text description: Super color combo. Really shows the Cayman curves. 6 speed manual, 3.4DFI, Bose sound, new Pilot Sport 4S tires, new shift cables and plugs. Headliner replaced. Clear...
  11. Would you buy a car with that was in an accident with well documented restoration?

    987 Cayman and Boxster Chat
You did ask for thoughts so that's what I've done. They are what I would do in this situation but I may tend to be a bit more cautious than some. You may look at differently. With that said, the price you are quoted is in line with a non-damaged car. That just doesn't work for me. As...
  12. Would you buy a car with that was in an accident with well documented restoration?

    987 Cayman and Boxster Chat
Not a chance in the world. Why would you purchase a trashed but repaired car for the same price or more than for a pristine car? To me, I would only purchase that car is it was $15K less and then only if I was desperate. It's not worth the risk. MOO!

Look up SeatShield. This is the best solution for covering your seat.
  15. What did you do to your 981 today?

    981 Chat
Hey, Jim: Beautiful photos! I love Smugglers Notch. It's a tough bike ride - much easier in a Porsche. BTW, you came right through my turf here in Lebanon, NH. It's beautiful country up here, particularly for driving. If you come this way again, you should plan a dinner and overnight in...
  16. Absolute First World Problem!!

    981 Chat
I have a beach chair that I purchased from a local pharmacy a few years back that would probably fit in the trunk. It's low, only 3-6" off the sand and no extra nonsense like cup holders or canopies. I think it would lay in the back probably sticking up a bit. Just use the rings to leash it...

    Porsche Care and Detailing
Those are odd locations and shapes for intentional damage. To me it looks more like someone drove through thorn bushes or got too close to chain link fence. Very strange.
  18. Mid-Engine Debate 981/982 or C8

    718 Chat
I humbly disagree regarding the spurious argument that those who want a Corvette will buy one without a test drive. As stated in a prior reply, prior to purchasing our CGTS I had contacted our local (60 miles away) Corvette dealer. I've never driven a Corvette and will not plunk down $60K+ on...
  19. Mid-Engine Debate 981/982 or C8

    718 Chat
I really wanted to demo a Corvette prior to purchasing our Cayman. The only Corvette dealer in our area - about 60 miles away - said they would not allow any demos. They would happily sell me a car but no way would they allow me to demo anything on their lot. They actually told me that if I...
