Getting ready to paint the calipers (in-place). While I'm at it, taking care of cleaning up the wheels, wheel wells, rust around the rotors and lug nuts etc. The nuts now look very good after soaking in Evopo-Rust overnight but the paint on them is not in good condition. So, thinking of painting...

I plan on doing a brake fluid flush and oil change this weekend in preparation for an upcoming track day. I will place the car on jack stand using the factory provided jack points found here... Page 128 | 2017 718 Cayman Manual | Porsche iManuals I believe I have found an alternate jack...

Since I'm going to start doing track days, I acquired a brake bleeding kit along with a good quality low-profile 3 ton jack and high quality jack stands. For me, the best way to bleed bakes is to have the entire car lifted with all wheels off. I would also be changing the oil for each track...

Today I traded in my daily driver BMW 1M Coupe that I've owned since new for a 1,7xx miles local 1-owner GT4. The car is white/black with yellow deviated stitching and straps, standard seats, and pretty much a base model. That means the base radio, which I believe is referred to as "Sound...

I've searched around for various ideas here, looking under the car I'm unsure how to get the back up on jack stands. I see people mention using a craftsman thing from sears that called lift n secure but that isn't available anymore. I see mentions of ramps but there's no way I can back this...

I never felt comfortable travelling long distance without a jack, spare tire, and relying 100% on Porsche Roadside Assistance even if I have the tire sealant. I decided to go to auto wrecker yard and bought a used scissor jack for $10 CAD. The 981 being too low, I decided to weld a 3/8 socket to...

I tried to jack up my car last night using a Harbor Freight Compact Low Profile Jack. I wanted to access the rear of the car where I have a bird automotive bike rack installed. No need to access anything up front, so I figured I'd jack up the rear, stick some stands in front of the rear tires...

Full disclosure - I have never used a car jack. I'm originally from Florida and we don't use winter tires. Also, I have never had a flat tire. Knock on wood. Actually, once I did get a flat tire but I was in the parking lot of a tire store. But I'm kind of handy. Maybe a 2-3 out of 10. So...

This has been discussed a little bit in the thread on jackstands, but I'd to revisit the topic with a more direct question. Can anyone confirm the safety of jacking up the rear of a 981 from the end of the subframe plate (circled in red below). I intend on lifting from the center and placing a...

I just took delivery of a CGTS and was aware of the difficulty in finding a spot to tie down the vehicle to a trailer. But my question is, why couldn't one just use ratchet straps with J hooks and place the hooks in the hole in the jack points? I appreciate your input!

I recently purchased a new-to-me 987.1 CS and I have located what appears to be 1/8" line-in jack labeled "Audio Input" in the slot beneath the CDR24 receiver. Judging by the fact that it does not seem firmly affixed to the back of the slot, and has a little pull and wiggle, I reckon it is some...

Quick question (didn't find an answer via search) I just put up the drivers side, front and rear on jack stands - the passenger side still has the wheels on the ground. I have to take the front wheel in to a shop for a few days, is it bad for the car to leave the one side up on jack stands...
