  6. 718 Cayman/Boxster Porsche (982) Chat 2017-Now
So my 718 GTS with 6600 miles just failed inspection due to a cracked rotor. Now the car was tracked 11 times and I am pretty good at threshold breaking, so I’m not really surprised, but my question is: should I stick with the oem rotors or would another brand/type give better longevity. I...

Apex has a group buy going and the savings are big! Now is perfect time to get ready for the track season. The SM-10 is a strong, lightweight, proper width and offset wheel with an affordable price tag. The SM-10 is available in 8.5-12 widths with various offsets. A good starting point for...
  8. 981 Cayman/Boxster Porsche Chat 2013-2016
Saw a post for these incredibly well priced OEM replacement rotors. I was wondering if anyone has tried them and has any opinions on performance, track use, etc. Understand cross drilled isn't the way to go for track, but would like folks opinion anyhow. Thx...

I bought some Akebono Euro pads for my 987.1 Cayman S. Is it okay to use these pads with the factory rotors? My car has low miles so the rotors are still in good shape, but I wasn't sure if I still needed to replace them due to them being incompatible with the new carbon-ceramic pads. Thanks!

Ran into a problem this weekend at Summit Point with pedal fade on my 2011 Cayman S PDK. Starting with my first run after about 7-8 laps my pedal would get sponge and gradually sink to the floor especially coming into turn 1. I still had braking ability but it was unnerving to say the least. So...

I just did a rear brake refresh on my 2010 Boxster Base. I now have all four old rotors (did the fronts last year) sitting in my garage. They really aren't taking up a lot of room, but I'd still like to get rid of them. There's a lot of iron in these things, so I'm reluctant to just drop them in...

Yesterday I read an article in R&T concerning brakes/rotors and the track. If anyone is curious here is the URL: https://www.roadandtrack.com/motorsports/a20771252/everything-you-need-to-know-about-brakes-and-track-days/ In the article they suggest replacing rotors any time you replace the pads...

Recently I replaced my front and rear pads on my 14BS. They were the originals as far as I can tell - the car has 26k miles and they had the original sensors. The front pads were worn down to the point of replacement - I would say about 10-20% material left. The rears were about half so I...

It's crazy there are limited choices for solid rotors on the 981 Cayman S. I only see GiroDisk and AP which are both expensive (did I miss any others?). GiroDisk recommends using their rotors on all four wheels which I imagine has to do with the brake bias. Has anyone used GiroDisks on the...

I posted something similar over at Rennlist and think I’ve figured out what I want to do but I also wanted to get thoughts from the 981 community specifically. 981 2.7, 18” wheels. Started doing DEs last year, love it and want to do a bunch more. Stock pads performed great for me, but I went...

Sorry if this subject has been discussed repeatedly, but I have trouble finding current info on the subject. Also, I am not well versed in the subject of braking. I have a 2014 981S. Many people say the 981 brakes are great, but there have been numerous times when I would have preferred a...

I am changing my brake pads and rotors myself did not want to pay $3,000 to the stealer :hilarious: Once I am done changing all pads and rotors do I need to do a brake fluid flush? is it a must to do it immediately? Thank you.

Pictured below are slotted rotors I saw on a GT4 yesterday at Pfaff's new dealership just outside Toronto. I know Girodisc make slotted rotors that fit on the GT4 but does anyone know what company manufacturers the rotors in the picture? Appreciate any information anyone is able to provide.

I ordered a set of Sebro Slotted rotors for all four corners from Pelican Parts last week for my 987.1C. The rotors arrived yesterday afternoon and the front right rotor is drilled instead of slotted. I looked back at my order and it says Sebro Slotted and Coated for all four individual rotors...
