With an increasing number of enthusiasts mounting APEX wheels on their Porsche for street, track and race use, we see many photographs of our wheels shared throughout the forum and social media. The purpose of this thread is to compile on-car photography of different APEX wheel fitments on various Porsche chassis while providing the community with detailed information surrounding wheel and tire fitment, alignment settings, brake and suspension clearances, and more. Please feel free to ask questions along the way, we have experts ready to provide technical support. You can find more information about our 18" Porsche SM-10 wheels HERE.

Feel free to just share pictures, but we know other enthusiasts would greatly appreciate if you included the following:
  • APEX wheel model, finish, size & offset
  • Front and rear tire sizes, tire make & model
  • Suspension modifications if applicable
  • Any required alignment settings such as added negative camber
  • Any other required modification (spacers, fender rolling, etc.)

Eager to see your photo's guys and gals. Don't be shy!

Here is a very clean 2003 996 Porsche Turbo running APEX SM-10 wheels. We have multiple staggered fitments available for the 996 and 997 Turbo chassis, and after consulting with our customer in regards to his plans for the car and identifying how he enjoys it, we landed on the following staggered wheel fitment. You can find more details and photos of Rajeev's 996 turbo here.

Any former 996 owners here? This has got to be one of the cleanest dual duty 996's we've seen in a while, and we are pretty pumped that the owner incorporated our SM-10 wheels into his build.

Check out a recent shoot we completed at the historic Lime Rock Park featuring our customers KMC built 987 3.8L Cayman. This is a well-sorted machine rolling on SM-10 wheels, and you don’t have to be a Cayman owner to enjoy this footage!

Visit the full APEX blog article for more images of this track beast, as well as details on the wheel and tire fitment and supporting modifications.

Our customer, Atle, sent us a couple more shots of his impeccably clean, yet very capable, 996 Carrera on SM-10 wheels. We love nothing more than to see our wheels on track where they belong.

Porsche 996TT featuring 18" SM-10 Wheels in Anthracite

Front: 18×9” ET46 with 255/35-18 Toyo R888 Tires
Rear: 18×12” ET45 with 315/30-18 Toyo R888 Tires

We have had many customers install our 18x9" front /18x12" rear staggered SM-10 wheel configuration successfully without any modifications to the car, however, they typically limited the width of their front tire to a 245 to prevent rubbing under suspension compression. Since the goal for this car was to fully leverage the wider 9" front wheels (in comparison to our 18x8.5" ET42 "standard" front wheel option) by maximizing front tire width and mitigating understeer, 255/35-18 R888 tires were installed. These r-compound tires run wider than your average street tires, therefore, negative camber was dialed in through the Bilstein PSS10 with RSS components to eliminate rubbing and ensure proper utilization of the tires. The result is a flush staggered fitment that maximizes grip/performance front and rear, tailor-made for the 996 turbo.

CHALK 718 CAYMAN S AT SONOMA RACEWAY - FEATURING 18" APEX SM-10 WHEELS

We’ve been lucky enough to shoot quite a few well prepared 987 and 981 Caymans since we first introduced our 18” SM-10 Porsche wheel line. As they age, the two mid-engine chassis have proven to be very capable track cars, offering up a well balanced, nimble and ultimately rewarding driving experience while still being relatively affordable. As a result, an increasing number of 911 owners and enthusiasts from other marques are finding themselves behind the wheel of a Cayman. On the Porsche Club Racing front, Spec Cayman (SPC) and GTB classes are also growing in popularity.

2017 was the first model year for the 718, and while a majority in circulation are still fulfilling their duties as daily drivers or weekend warriors, it is only a matter of time before it too serves as a common basis for track and race builds. Our customer Ed is early to the game with his beautifully modified Chalk Grey 718 Cayman S, and we jumped at the opportunity to tag along as he attended an HPDE at Sonoma Raceway. The full photoshoot and modification list can be found in the feature thread here on P9.
