Hi All, I'm getting my 981 next week (currently have a 987).
And I will definitely upgrade the rims to Carrera S or Carrera Sport style (comes w/ 18").

Can you please show your pictures and experience please - although it's clear 20" will look better I prefer 19" for a smother ride, I hope to see how the 19" fill the wells vs. the 20".

Thanks in advance!
Mine came with 19” and I up’d to 20”. No perceptible change in ride.

19”

20”

??? All of the available tires are the same diameter and therefore height; they have to be or the speedometer and the stability systems won’t work properly. The difference is the tire sidewall height and the wheel diameter. The bigger the wheels the shorter the tire sidewall.

The tire/wheel combos will all fill the wheel well the same. If you want less gap above the tire, you need to do it with suspension.

called lobster claws this side of the world,
Actually they are only called that as a matter of lost in translation over the years. This nickname came from many years ago (2005 911 launch if I recall)on PPBB (Porsche Pete’s Boxster Board) someone said they looked like lobster forks and it stuck. The lobster claw nickname has been misused through the years, but meaning lobster forks. Kinda like the whisper game that you say something in a whisper to a person and by the time it reaches the end it has changed from the original person’s words. But the nickname no matter where you are is lobster forks.

@PG-IN Thanks for the reminder of the history! PPBB must have been one of the many pre-cursors of this wonderful Planet-9 forum!
Indeed! It was a great group of Boxster and Porsche folks. It started with 2 guys, Chuck and Rob, who were long time Porsche guys who where what we called “waiters” for the 1997 Boxster. It was much different than the typical forum we have today. It was a continuous running bulletin board where each “thread” in the list could grow, but all were seen on the list on one screen. New posts to a thread would bump the thread to the top. Lots of comradely and lots of colorful and heated “discussions”

I found it about 2001 and was hooked! I absorbed it all and ended up buying my first Porsche in February 2003 from Suncoast, a big supporter of the board even then. If I’m not mistaken! And I’m sure I will be told I’m mistaken, Ken (K-Man S) was a member that was banned from PPBB and formed this forum. I remember his Avatar and pretty sure it’s the same guy. Pedro, I’m sure you’ve all heard of him, was a member as well. I think Pedro used the same code to create his board if you are familiar with it. If any have heard of the Gundo hack, Gundo was a PPBB member as well. It’s funny I read an article in some Porsche community magazine that mentioned the Gundo hack. I just had to chuckle.

It was really good times. Exciting stuff. Each year the order guides would come out and debate and discussion would start on the new models.

Boxstoberfest and many long time gatherings came from PPBB via members who wanted to gather. I attended at least 5-6 of the Boxtoberfest right up to 2015. I even created the artwork for the tshirts one year.

Dem were da days!

Lobsters have claws but havnt seen one use a fork lol
Well, the wheels clearly do not resemble a lobster “claw” but do however resemble a lobster “fork”.

But you are right, lobsters don’t use a fork but we certainly do.
