I live in south florida where it is too hot and humid to drop the top during the summer months. I am thinking of getting a hardtop.
I don't want it to look like a Cayman. Any suggestions ?

986 hardtops are hard to come by. 987 hardtops seem to hardly exist! Never seen one for sale.

I purchased mine from LA Dismantlers. They were great to deal with, fast and safe shipping.

When I ordered my Boxster in 2005, I tried to get a hard top thru the dealer. They said it would have to come right from Germany and it could be 3-6 months. Also, It was expensive. If I remember correctly all told about $3500. Ultimately I went to a Cayman a few years later. Hard tops are in indeed, rare.

986 and 987 tops look almost exactly the same, but are not interchangeable. Also, the 987 top has some 986 part number pieces like the window wire harness, so you need to be careful if you can't test fit it to your car and don't see it fitted to seller's car. The top transforms the car into a real coupe, but also quieter than Cayman, since the soft top is still stored on top of motor. Original prices were in fact in the $3500 range.
