I was recently looking at a low mileage, fully loaded 2008 Cayman S Design Edition and I fell in love with it EXCEPT for one thing:

In the rear, one of the matte stripes has several very easy to see scratches in it. The seller is not a Porsche dealer and his detail department says they can't fix it.

I called a Porsche dealer and the sales guy told me the stripe is simply a stencil and can simply be removed and replaced. This somehow didn't sound right to me.

Does anyone out there familiar with the 2008 Cayman S Design Edition matte stripes know if the scratches in the stripe (very, very noticeable-like 3 of them together) can either be repaired by a detail/collision place or taken to Porsche and the stripe stripped and replaced?

I'm close to heartbroken as this was the best car I ever drove!!

Appreciate the help from all you Cayman S experts! Thank you!!!

I'm willing to bet the matte stripes are stick-on vinyl pieces. I believe the sales guy at the dealer. This is probably an easy fix.
