I recently purchased the detailed VIN decoding from Suncoast and have a few questions regarding some of the "options" that I see listed. I have been searching the codes on Google for the better part of an hour and have not run across any answers, so I am hoping someone may be able to help me out. I apologize in advance if my Google-foo was not worthy....

First, it looks like my car originally came with a black top but the PO may have replaced it with a red one (at least per the decoding). I do not know if that is the case but the code shows "Roof Color 4V Roadster Top in Black" and below that "Convertible Top Color A27". However, I have the red leather interior with natural leather option and body color roll bars.

Regarding my questions, I see the following codes that are not necessarily self-explanatory:

"171 Acoustic Package USA"
"182 Tropical Zone"

I am trying to find out the details of the Acoustic Package and Tropical Zone. Did all 981's come with the Acoustic Package (assuming it is related to noise suppression)? If ot, what is it? Same for the the Tropical Zone, what exactly is it?

Edit: One last question. How accurate is Vinanalytics.com when it comes to the car's MSRP?

This may be of some use to you. It must have been available on a myriad of models. "Hey guys, for those who are interested, Rich was absolutely correct that the 'interior noise suppression acoustic package' was an option on 991.2s, and # 171. You can see all available options here, so scroll down for #171: 2017 Porsche 911 - Equipment & Options Codes . And for a grand, it was well worth it IMO, since it reportedly included double-pane acoustic glass, as well as extra insulation everywhere. Wish more people ordered it, to find more used cars with it. Oh well. A guy on another thread said he'd have ordered if he knew it existed. I can't think who doesn't want a quiet car when you want it, but guess you only appreciate that when older. I MUCH prefer having a quiet sports car, than a quiet barge of a sedan . And even if you dismantle your car to add insulation, getting the thicker acoustic glass would cost a small fortune. So next time you order a new 911, remember this option. You're welcome. Ha ha." Thank you very much for the post and link. I can tell you that the car is surprisingly quiet for a convertible. It's actually quieter than most other cars which was one of the first things that I noticed when I went for a test drive (other than the glorious exhaust note).

Thank you. You reminded me that I too had bought a VIN report from Suncoast shortly after I bought my car and when I checked my report today, I saw that my car has the 171 option and a few other options I didn’t realize it has.
