If I had a dime every time some "specialist" claimed massive performance gains with a bolt-in chip...

The only application these claims are even remotely close to possible is in shoddy, mid-range turbo-diesels, where they basically just flood the engine with more diesel. Massive emission onslaught ensues, but they do in fact give power gains.

k man any idea what the best one has been for the 2.7ltr?

cheers
The Softronic One Gives the Same - But only with the Addition of the Throttle Body and Race Plenum Modification.................. (Together with Flash ECU Tuning......)

I Have Steve Wheeler's SRP Kit that I Need to Move (Steve was Made Redundant and His Cayman Went back to Porsche) for about the same Money that Sanspeed are charging just for Software.....!

PM Me for details - I'm just along the M25..................

A dyno can show you anything you want, the margin for error is often 10% or more so that means 2 back to back runs on a 300 hp car can be off by 30hp! There is no way a flash will get you 24hp on a Cayman.

Kor, what happened to the back of your head?

If dynos are off that much run-to-run they are largely useless and no one ever has any basis for any claim of a gains less than 10%- and no one should buy any hp aid other than a turbo or supercharger- how disappointing

Broj

I have a 2007 2.7 Liter and Did The Softronic Flash and It made a BIG difference in my cars performance -no joke
I did not do a before and after dyno so I do not know the HP gains from Just the software but I can say the car is much quicker in all areas of RPM and IMO it feels like at least 15 HP gained .
The Plenum smoothed out the power and increased my MPG
Very satisfied and would do it again :)

Re: Broj

Some of us have learned to say that dynos "can" be off by about 5% from one run to the next, but I've seen several multiple runs posted here where hp readings differed by only 1 or 2 hp from one run to the next. Change dynos, run conditions, or car configuration and much different numbers may come up.

Yeah, Kor; the back of your head looks like a wheel now. Who did that for you?

I have done many dyno runs over the years on Dynojet and Dyno Dynamics dynos. I have never seen variations of more than 2 or 3 hp, at most, from one run to the next, provided nothing on the car itself is changed between runs. If anyone is seeing 5% to 10% variations on back-to-back runs, then I would venture to say that something is seriously wrong with the operation of the dyno or with the car itself.

Please let's not degenerate into another Dyno discussion. Three automotive forums I've posted on. All three had a dyno-argument-to-discussion ratio of 2:3.

Nobody cares. Some wanker claiming "+24BHP" for a £1500 on a 2.7 remap isn't getting my money. Particularly when exceptional mappers are failing to get that much on the 3.4 engine with map alone. Get an SRP like most of us have and rest in the knowledge that your engine is in fact combusting fuel, rather than running at 10% over-fuelled.
