718 GT4 Options (What Will It Be)

Hi,

I'm sure like many others here, you're ready all the latest articles on the 718 GT4.

Some think it will be NA, others think manual only.

What set up do you think it will have?

01 - NA with Manual & PDK

02 - Turbo with Manual & PDK

03 - NA with Manual only

04 - Turbo with Manual only

Re: 718 GT4 Options (What Will It Be)

70% chance NA (flat six)
30% chance Turbo (four)

90% chance Manual & PDK
10% chance Manual only

And this time they'll make a bunch more.

1. N/A with manual and PDK.

All of the latest Porsche supplied "spy pics" and approved talking points for car magazines CONFIRM that it will be N/A 4.0 ltr , and most allude to being manual only but they leave that as a question mark.

01, though I guess 03 is possible. Almost every thing is saying it will be the 4.0 from the GT3 tuned around 410-425 HP. I would expect it to start around $90-95K base, but minimum of $110K with a few options on the dealer lot.

03

All test cars which have been seen until now where manual.
So I think it will stay like with the 981 GT4. NA and manual only.

PDK lovers have to wait for the much expensiver GT4 RS and there are big doubts if he will make it this time.
2 or 3 years ago, Porsche had the 981 GT4 RS fully developed, ready to launch, but no green light for production. The car was too good.

You are doubtless better informed on this than I am, but am guessing the price will be higher than you suggest.

The 2016 started at $86K, so a $90K+ base price would seem to be in line.

It will be higher than that if it has the GT3 engine. I'm thinking 100-110k just for the base price.

Again, I have no idea, but you would be lucky to find even a low-option 2016 for much under $100k. Since Porsche knows now they could have priced it much higher, I doubt they will make another miscalculation on this one.

Very true, it's like trying to find a Civic Type R for under $45K even though list price is $35K. Supply and demand, Cayman GT4 will be a super hot car and selling for over MSRP.

Hopefully option 1.

But those rear end spy pics with the dual exhaust placement, looks very similar to the 911 3.0 turbo engine exhaust placement.

The GT department did say all GT cars would be NA, but the 4.0 GT3 engine is a huge step up from the current 3.8 Carrera S engine.

I would expect a big price increase with that motor!!

The 991.2 without PSE has the quad exhaust in the sides. The exhaust placement has little to do with the type of engine. It's for aesthetics.

AP said the GT cars would be NA. Porsche is only making one NA engine right now at that is the 4.0L GT3 engine. I don't see them developing a new NA engine for the limited GT4.

My bet is on the NA GT3 engine detuned to about 410-420 HP.

I know this is the wrong forum to say this, but when the base price was $86k, GT4 had 3.8 NA flat 6 while the "lesser" engine was 3.4 NA flat 6 in GTS or, slightly detuned, in S. I do not have a crystal ball, but I have no problem believing that the new price will be a lot higher and Porsche will cash in on those who will want NA flat 6 considering the alternative. No offense meant to anybody.

By going to a 4L engine with over 400 HP, they’ll have the excuse to charge more than they did for the first GT4. I’d expect at least 420 hp (50 hp more than the GTS).

My gut says 01 which will be contrary to the 718 marketing and confuse it's market, in my opinion. To me, if you are gonna pick a marketing strategy, pick one and go in 100%, not just label the ones that are convenient to a higher volume platform change. I think the first iteration with manual was to drive interest, this time the PDK will be offered.

What would make sense with the rest of the range would sadly be 04, thus skyrocketing values of the first iteration into legend status as the last/only flat 6 Cayman GT4.

(crystal ball back in the box)
