Hello everyone...I hope I can get some info from you folks on this site.
I have been looking around to purchase a Porsche in the 911 family series....what I can afford of course. Looking at the years of 2002 thru 2006, any recommendations?
If you aren't familiar with it already, you should read about the IMS failures that affect those model years. There are fixes available out there to address the problem, but you should know what you're getting into and ask the right questions about cars you look at.
The Turbos and GT3's from those years are not affected by this issue.
I had two 996's (one of them a GT3) and I really enjoyed them both. The 996 C2 I had was the first sports car to become my daily driver. (996 is the code for that generation of 911's from 1999 through 2005)
Are you looking for a cab or coupe? any sense of the budget you want to spend?
I'm somewhat biased toward the 997's (after 2005). I like the look of the headlights better and by 2006/7 the IMS problem is not as risky. Been totally happy with my 2007. Don't know your budget is but something with 30K miles is really just broken in and pretty affordable.
