The purpose of this thread is to assemble a gallery of dyno charts for the 981 Cayman range (inc. GT4, GTS, S, base model) along with supporting information.

A key aim is to provide reliable baseline performance related information including dynometer results (under various conditions) for the 981 series. Ideally and where possible contributors should identify the source of performance data and where dyno derived, the type of dyno used to collect the data. The conditions at the time of the run and the type of transmission e.g. manual or PDK are useful supporting information. If possible, fuel type should be specified using AKI RON or MON notation (note AKI = Ron+MON/2).

1) 981 Cayman GT4 manual (Auto Sport), T ~ 14 to 19 degrees C, P ~ 977 hpa, peak WHP 325PS @ 6300rpm MAHA

3) 981 Cayman GTS PDK average of 5 runs, T ~ 20 degree c, P not known, peak WHP is 280hp to 285hp from 6000rpm to 7700rpm
note: 1 run yields a peak value over 300WHP, if this is discounted average peak WHP is ~ 285hp
note: torque and power are derived at the wheel and displayed in the graph as WHP and WTqe
note: averaging via best fit curve

Note: Given the lack of abundant high quality dyno data a WHP value can be calculated on the besis of drag limited top speed - see WHP calculated in the panel above and summarised below: The WHP is calculated from data reported by Porsche and AutoSport magazine, the key assumptions beyond these facts are air temperature, air density, the energy content of the fuel and a reasonable estimate of rolling resistance. The calculation also takes into account the mass of the driver and fuel. On this basis and using reported engine power specifications and tolerances (Porsche power output error is 0% to +5%, engines rated below published outputs are rejected during the factory QA/QC process). The calculated WHP is the amount of WHP needed to overcome the effects of both rolling resistance and drag. This assumes the cars reported top speeds are drag limited. The numbers presented below are realistic baseline rear wheel horsepower values:-

"Even then, we were floored when we discovered just how much more rigid the two-seater Cayman was to be: its impressive 42,000 Nm/° torsional rigidity surpasses that of the 991 Coupe's 30,400Nm/º, but it never seems overly stiff for daily-road use and really comes into its own on a perfectly paved circuit"

and

Excellence Magazine, September 2015, cites Porsche Cayman body shell torsional stiffness at 41,900 Nm/degree and claims it to be "the highest of any non-carbon-fiber tub production car"

So the Cayman may be even stiffer than first thought

Erratum - manual gear ratios for S/GTS/GT4 - gears 5 and 6 were incorrectly transcribed - gear 5 = 0.95 and gear 6 = 0.81
