Most aftermarket sound great but come with drone at around 2k rpm. So that’s 7th gear on the highway with a PDK. You can keep it out of 7th at the cost of gas. Same if you have a manual, just keep it away from 2k.

I installed a Soul Performance non-valved exhaust and I am so happy with i every time I drive my car.

There is some drone at highway speed, but it is very livable IMHO.

I love the burble and symphony in Sports Plus mode! If you are thinking of an aftermarket exhaust or PSE, please at least talk with JOHN GAYDOS.

Yep. Modding 981(S) exhaust is really easy if you know how to weld. I gutted mine and it sounds just right now. I don't really see the need for valve/"quiet" mode. It's never that loud in 981 unless you go with straight pipe.

There is a multipage thread on this here somewhere.

Lots of other chats here on this topic. I’d say consider modding your OE exhaust.

I just installed a Carnewal GT exhaust on my 15 Cayman and am very happy with the results. I too felt the stock exhaust note was a bit too quiet. Its much better now. There's a noticeably deeper tone and it really wakes up in the upper revs :) Working with Carnewal was easy and it arrived from Belgium in 4 days. Hard to beat it. Good Luck.

Yes Will J Cantrell is the US affiliate. Though Gert Carnewal does ship to the US from the EU and includes shipping labels. I’m close to convincing myself to order this exhaust based on feedback from others on the resulting sound.

Maybe you could show the forum what you did?
I am not the best at this but hope it works. In this thread post 12 and 13 I show what was done.

If not search the thread - Porsche 981 S OEM Exhaust (w/o tips). It was in the classifieds.

Actually I'm not happy with the noise level of my DIY "carneval" mod on my 981s.
It's really not as loud as exhaust on my M2, which is a turbo and by definition should be not as loud as NA...

I think I will be looking at fabspeed options this spring. I wish I could listen to straight pipe in person.

YT and in-person are different. When I was ready to attempt the Mod Cut#2 (my guess to be Carnewal GT), our fellow P9 member who did this mod on his 981S sent me a start-up and acceleration video clip. He left the muffler intact, cut the shell from below, cut 1.5" of internal pipe, and drove to muffler shop to weld the shell. I did not like the weld scar that is why I planned to cut the pipe internally using a die grinder. It sounded good until we met in a Home Depot parking lot to do a side by side with my stock non-PSE. He also gave me a ride to experience how it sounded inside. Wow, it sounded nice in person about 15% louder than mine, some pops & burbles and definitely more aggressive! He told me that it's not as loud and aggressive as a PSE from his comparison with another local car but better than stock for less than $75. He calls it as "matured sound".
It's the sound description I have read from Carnewal GT users (987/981).
To end my story 🙂, I was lucky to be gifted a free PSE from local P9 member (Canux) before starting mod#2 project (again, thank you very much!). As good as it sounds, my PSE has a nice story to tell to friends & relatives & car meet-ups.
