So I know a lot of people run 245/40-18 275/40-18 at the track, but here in UK we have a limited tyre choice. R888r only come as 255/35-18 and 275/35-18 : would this set up upset the ABS? overall diameters are a bit smaller than OEM (12mm front and 18rear) so does anyone have photos of side view of their car with such setup please?
Any help/comment/photo regarding this set up will be appreciated.
I have three sets of wheels/tires using 255/35/18 f and 275/35/18 r. One set is Michelin PS4's for daily driving, the others are Bridgestone RE71R's for wet tracks and Hoosier A7's. Personally, I like the wider tire in front to stick more, which removes some inherent understeer and allows more mid corner rotation. I leave my PSM on as my driving style has improved a lot, rarely getting to over 8-9 degrees of slip angle/drift causing PSM to kick in. The RE71R's are predictable enough to to feel when the rear's are truly breaking away in the wet. With the Hoosiers A7's, they are in a whole new tire class. I needed to change my driving style to a smoother approach.
I run three sets of wheels and tires all 18's. OEM 8 in f OS 57 and 9 in OS 43 rear on Michelin 4S's 255/35/18 f and 275/35/18 r; Signature SV104 Forged Monoblock 9 in OS 47 f and 10 in OS 35 rear with RE71R's 255/35/18f and 275/35/18r, now my raintires as I just had them changed to the opposite rim; Titan 7 TS-5 9 in Forged Monoblock (17.2 lbs) OS 46 f and 10 (18.0 lbs) in OS 35 r with Hoosier A-7 255/35/18 f and 275/35/18r. Titan 7 TS-5 are in Satin Titanium, while the Signature SV-104's are powder coated Black Chrome. I can feel the unsprung weight difference between the OEM/Michelin's, Signature/RE71R's and the Titan/Hoosier combinations in that order. I change my shock rebound/compression settings to compensate.
