I have an issue with my climate control. A video link below shows the problem.

I ran a CARSOFT POR 3 auto diagnostic, cleared the codes, and then the climate control started acting strangely. I'm not sure if this happened right after the diagnostic or after clearing the codes.

In the video, you can see that all the buttons work except:

  • AUTO: The fan goes full blast when pressed.
  • Temp -+: Changes bits of the numbers on the display but does not affect the temperature.

It feels like it's stuck in diagnostic mode.

Additionally, when I run POR, I see a warning for five errors, but when I try to display they disappear and POR reports no issues with the AC module.

1. If the unit is out - nothing will be gained disconnecting the battery/fuse.. there is no power to the unit
2. Worth trying, but the coincidence of the display not being distorted or showing missing pixels - but showing what it is - which is the wrong items displayed after a diagnostics read was run on the car makes me think the display memory has somehow been corrupted. Luckily - if another "auto" unit from the same era can be sourced it probably can be swapped right over.

I would be interested in seeing what another diagnostics tool might make of the 5 errors being reported - something like a Foxwell.. or Durametric.

BTW - OP - Welcome to Planet-9, the Friendly Forum for Confused Porsche Owners!

It's sort of traditional here to introduce yourself over in the new member area, and post a few pics of your car. Good place to do a bit of reading on how to make technical request posts (your's is excellent BTW..) and some other forum specific stuff. You can find all that at: https://www.planet-9.com/forums/new_members/

Welcome once again!

BTW - I may decide to move this thread over to the Diagnostics forum we have - but that can wait until we see if any useful input arrives in the thread here..
