I honestly don't like anything about it. It looks like my car but all tarted up for the high school prom. The Porsche lettering across the back is too in-your-face obnoxious, the front and rear are just busy for no reason, the interior looks more Audi. It doesn't do anything for me. I'm sure they will sell faster than ever, but I won't buy one.

D) very glad I'm getting a Spyder

Not a fan.
Just my opinion:
The interior vent changes look like they were made just so they could say there was a change. Doesn't add anything to the interior.
Exterior -front is fine.. That rear though. I don't like it as much. I've always liked the lines on the boxster, saw it as improved with each update. Fell in love with the 981 from the second I saw it. This just doesn't move me.
And that god awful tacky badge.. I've never de badged but this would be a first time.
Ymmv.

Both A and C, since they aren't mutually exclusive.

I am surprised at the Canadian prices, at least the ones posted currently on the Porsche Canada website. The Base is $63,900 CDN and the S is $78,000, an increase of about 4 and 5 k over last year. At current exchange rates, the new prices are about $45K and $55K US.
Wow! Do you think that's Porsche or some Candian import duty or tax issue? That's, as Trump says, "HUUUUUUGE."

Indeed. Embarrassingly so.

Agreed. Robert Cumberford might say it's cleaner and that the current angry grill openings are too much an imitation of what's currently a passing fad throughout the industry. New Lexus grills look like they're out of an animated horror movie.

OK. You've upped my curiosity. Time to take another look at the pix of the rear logo. Thanks!

The CAN price increases are in line with the US price increases. Not only that, they are very similar to the price increases for the 991.2 911 as well. Every new model has gone up 4-5k. New buyers are paying for the turbo engine development.

The 991.2 includes PASM and backup camera/sensors as standard so the price increase is not that much. 718 probably includes at least backup camera/sensors also as standard. Of course, now we don't have a choice but I believe the backup camera is regulatory driven.

NHTSA to require backup cameras on all vehicles

Love the steering wheel and the lights - hopefully one or both can be swapped. :D

Can't see myself getting into one instead of the F6 I have now though - I ended up in the 981 because I had gotten bored with my FI BMWs.

I am sure it will be a good car though...

In addition, might they also be paying a bit toward VW's legal problems? Ya gotta bet Müller must be wishing he had just stayed put. Kind of reminds me of when Mary Barra took over GM just in time for the ignition switch catastrophe. I'm guessing most of us here are at least technically millionaires. Maybe way better to be in the 4% (or whatever it is these days to technically be a milliionaire) rather than the much-discussed "1%". Some of those folks at the top pay pretty disconcerting dues.

Not workin'. "Invalid attachment" is what my screen shows. Thanks for trying, though! I found the pix elsewhere here on P-9. I wonder whether some P-9 folks might view the new rear logo as a "vandalize me" advertisement. I'll keep what I've got. (I did opt for the free debadging on my 2015 CS, but as you know, they won't remove "Porsche"--only "Cayman S." Elsewhere here on P-9 several (how do you politely say "OCD"?) posters have described how you can even remove the "Porsche" without marring the paint, if anyone is interested.

Agree re the magnitude of the annual increase. The surprise is the lack of currency adjustment for the tanking Canadian dollar. There must be rules against importing brand new cars from Canada, otherwise there is a pretty substantial discount for those with USD to spend.

A - I'm gonna enjoy driving my GT4 for the foreseeable future. I'm sure the 718 will be a blast to drive, though.
Indeed, you are in an enviable position. Congratulations. For me it is "A". If something happens to my 981 S, It is going to be replaced by a Jag. F Type. Otherwise I'll be driving my 981 for the foreseeable future.

Cheers

C) I still don't want to upgrade to the 981, let alone the 718. I do think the 718 is better looking than the 981, though, assuming a badge delete (the new badging is too much.)

I'm only in the my 30s, but I guess it's time for me to pull up my seat to the curmudgeon's table. They don't make them like they used to. I'll probably just put money back into my 987 for th long term. :)

Ah, sorry about that. This site always give me issues with pics. It's on theight bar, hope that makes it easy to remove!

Probably B. I like the four point LEDs in the front headlights and the rear tail lights look interesting too. I still probably like my 981.1 rear sculpture better since the Porsche lettering on the 981.2 looks corny. Need to see the rear in person to give final judgement. Don't like the interior vents, they look ugly, prefer the current setup. Steering wheel looks cool although I like the current wheel too, probably a tie there. I like the performance figures and speculated fuel consumption, but I still would need to hear the sound and test the engine feeling on a test drive. I am waiting for the 718 Cayman. If it's priced 2-3k below the 718 boxster I might take the plunge pending driving validation.

I have zero interest in a flat-4 turbo Cayman. :(

Which is why I bought my GTS when I did... Couldn't be happier with it.

This may be my first and last Porsche as I have no desire to own a 911 (GT cars not withstanding...).

Two comments: I've read that some of the LEDs are on the options list--not standard.

Secondly, "need to hear the sound" might be a complex issue for some. If they go the phony BMW synthetic noise route, I'd have a hard time philosophically paying that kind of money knowing I was purchasing something the marketing department had stayed up late at night figuring out ways to pull the wool over my ears, so to speak. And, if they don't go the phony BMW route, it ain't gonna sound as sweet as 981.1. This may not appear to be a big issue, but consider this . . .

For those of us who don't track our cars, how often would we really be using the difference in acceleration between the very fast 981.1 and the even faster 981.2 (assuming that name will be used by the P-9 community)? In my case, I can't imagine needing even more acceleration than I already have on the street. OK, that's just me. But sound--I think that one affects all of us. I remember how vastly much faster my ol' '61 MGA 1600 felt because of how it sounded. In reality, it took something like 14 seconds to get to 60, which even back then was not exactly swift. So I think sound doers make more of a psychological difference than some of us might think at first consideration. Above 4000 RPM, the 981 makes me feel like I'm in Indianapolis. I've had a turbo'd 4-banger (MR2). It was a great car, but sounded like too many cigarettes had pushed it toward emphysema. I'm sure Porsche can do better, but it can't be the same as the current iteration 6-cylinder sound.
