Hi all,

In the long series of mysterious rattles, please allow me to add the one in my 987.2 :) Maybe one of you knows what it is.

Here it is (scroll to 55 seconds): https://www.dropbox.com/s/1741qgn36as8wtb/geluid_rechtsachter.m4a
If you hear somebody mumbling in a weird language, that's me, in Dutch :)

The rattle only occurs at higher speeds (> 120 km/h or 70 mph).
It is not affected by road-surface or RPM.
It is not caused by the privacy screen or by the storage compartment, nor by the strut that holds up the trunk (verified that).

The sound seems to originate from beneath the window behind the passenger seat.

Weirdest thing: it has come and gone, and come back. I can't find a pattern...

I wonder if it has to do with the engine compartment fan? If the bearing is shot or the mount has broken or something like that, the airflow into the vent at high speed may cause a vibration.

The rear spoiler goes up at 70mph, right? Maybe something with the mechanism?

Try manually extending the spoiler with the button and see if you can replicate the problem at lower speeds with the spoiler up.

Good point, I have been looking for things related to airflow to check.
Yours is another candidate.

Hadn't thought of this yet, indeed that is the speed at which it extends. I'll check that as well.

Checked the vent and the spoiler to no avail. Tightened a nut holding the vent in place but it was barely loose.

Any further input welcome, the saga continues :)
