I'll be putting the battery charger ( CTEK 7002) on the Cayman tomorrow and it will remain on the car for the next 5 months (you gotta love the
Cdn winter) . The plan is to keep the car covered during this time but does that create the potential for a fire or explosion??

No, I wouldn't even see how there could be a fire or explosion risk...

I guess don't keep your garage warm by lighting a fire under your gas tank. ;)

I'm not familiar with the charger/model you have, but I bought one from the Dealer, and it's on now thru till mid March or so, no issues, house is still standing.....;)

shouldn't be an issue. I never have it on the charger this long, plenty of days here where it is nice enough to bring out the beast. However my boat is on the charger for a good 6 months but certainly the chargers are a bit more sophisticated.
