We have that as well. Mentioned it the last time she was in for service but the specific road makes a difference. They couldn't replicate and I didn't know of a road for them to use to test that would produce the noise since the dealer is nowhere close to where we live. We didn't have the noise when we first got our Boxster either.

The sound comes seems to come from right behind the driver's (possible passenger as well) so it doesn't have to be all that loud to be easily noticed. Our tires would have to be extremely loud to drown that out and even then I don't think the tire noise would drown it out. I don't think it's just a matter of wind though that could be a contributing factor. We've had the noise on even on days without wind. We get the noise cruising down street in some cases at 30-35.
