http://www.planet-9.com/gallery/files/3/calendarnews.png Remember when we used to do annual calendars of members cars? Well thanks to a recommendation from the Jaguar club we've uncovered a new printing source for very high quality calendars AND holiday cards. According to our printing source they can turn around calendars before Xmas if photos are sent to them by Dec 11th. That's the end of this week! In addition they can also make holiday cards that you can use to send out to friends and family this year, or if you have already sent out cards this year save them until next year. So, in order to try and get enough high quality photos to make a good calendar I'm asking everyone who is interested to upload their best photo of their Porsche or their best photo of their Porsche and themselves if they want to be in the photo too.

Order Calendars Here: Creative Digital Printing - Planet 9 2016 Calendar

Please upload photos here: http://www.planet-9.com/gallery/browseimages.php?c=837

Please make sure these are high resolution high quality photos, the better the photo quality the better the printing, any photos that are too small or too low of resolution will get rejected.

Any questions let me know! Time is VERY SHORT so please don't delay!

Your upload limit looks like it is 5MB, which is too small for really high-quality photos suitable for print. Any chance you can up the limit on this gallery or is there another way to send large files to you?

I can but as an fyi 5mb photos have printed fine before as the resolution is high enouhh, but I will see if I can up it to 8 or 10 later today. There is a limit allowed by our hosting company but I don't remember what it is...

What format do you upload? If you convert to JPEG with 90% setting in Photoshop - 5 meg should be plenty... And there will be no difference in pic quality.

I shoot in RAW of course, but the full 36mp image exported as JPEG as you suggest is 8MB. I should be okay now. I will try again tonight.

The instructions said "high quality".

I don't have any great shots of my car but will definitely buy a calendar! I have seen some great photos of cars on P9.

This is a pretty cool idea K-Man S.

Yes. JPEG is terrible if you want "high quality" but it's the format we're stuck with. JPEG2000 never took off and Google's new format hasn't gained steam.

So it's a matter of how lossy do you want your picture to be vs. lossless (PNG). However what T-Design said, a 90%-100% is almost always tolerable even with JPEG.

A little correction - JPEG is lossy format, but for large sizes / hi-res printing quality it's quite usable. I know as I was in photography business, and to print stuff, portraits, pictures and albums almost every shop asks for jpegs with 90 or 10/12 quality. It's usually indistinguishable when printed

So do I get it right that it's one pic per person? I'd rather submit a few, for project manager to choose.

I submitted the original image (~15mp) used in my avatar that I took after I got my wheels refinished.

If it is decided to go forward with the calendar, you'll give us a preview of which images have been chosen, yea?

I still need to work out the details of which pictures with the printer. What I've been told by the printer is that individuals will be able to go to their site and order calendars and cards. What I don't know is whether or not you'd be able to select the images you want for your calendar on the fly or if you have to choose a fixed set of pics, in other words all calendars would be the same. As for cards I'm hoping everyone can choose their own car for their own cards, but as I said, a few more details to work out. Will keep you posted as I know more and things firm up, until then keep the pics coming!

Choosing on the fly would be awesome!

K-Man, how many can be entered?

I see some with 5 or more uploaded.
I asked people to upload 1, at most 2, those who uploaded more are risking disqualification for doing so. :) We are under a time crunch I'm sure everyone will receive consideration but those who upload more than 2 will have their consideration spread out among more options which probably weakens their chances.

Good news, I talked to the printer last night and he said that if we supply more than a dozen images then YES each person can pick and choose which images they want for their calendar! So everyone will be creating their own personal members calendar among the finalist photos that are chosen. The more quality photos we get, the more we are likely to include in the final set (I'll probably shoot for 24 so that in theory everyone could make 2 completely different calendars and never duplicate an image if they wanted to)

Now get to uploading folks!
