I just purchased a Cayman S, and do wish to give it the best care I can. Is their any kind of recommended "starter" kit of supplies to at least wash the car safely and give it basic care? The selection of soaps, towels, waxes is very bewildering. One kit, 3LG, has more stuff in it than I know what to do with, and it is about $235. Is this the typical entry point?

Lot of good advice (including their Starter Kit) from one of our sponsors in this thread: http://www.planet-9.com/porsche-car...in-anything-about-detailing-products-etc.html

I think the basics you need are:
Shampoo
Detailing Spray (for claying and touch-up cleaning)
Clay Bar
Wax
Tire Dressing
Washing Mitt and brushes (e.g. for wheels)
MF (microfiber) towels

Of course, there is a large variation in how much you can spend on any of these items . . .
