Hi guys, purchased a 06 cayman S a couple of months back, noticed a day or so after I got it the car smoked badly on first start of the day until the car was up to temperature then I noticed the oil was showing over the max.

Had all the oil dropped and levelled back out, changed over the AOS as there was signs that was faulty.

Since then I’m assuming there’s oil all over the intake etc, my question is how long would you expect this to carry on if it’s burning the oil within the system.

Car seems to drive fine, had 2 specialists look over it and they say they can’t see any signs of anything else at fault other than it will take a long time to clear.

It depends how long you drive it before it will clear out. Short drives will take longer, a nice long Sat afternoon drive will make it go away quicker. You need to get it hot for a sustained period to burn it off.

Top tip: if you overfill when changing the oil, don't drain it all and start over. Just remove the oil filter canister and dump the oil in it. That should take you down a 1/2 bar. You may need to repeat the process until you get past your overfill situation. BTW... you want to be at the 1st bar below the "full" mark due to the inaccuracy of the guage.
