Afternoon all,

I have a 2007 Cayman S with a starter motor that's just failed. Just looking for a guide on how to replace this myself, all I could find was this for a boxer:
Pelican Technical Article: Boxster Starter Replacement - 986 / 987

which seems like a different layout as I wasn't able to rotate the throttle body or remove it due to the longer intake pipe!

Does the entire intake manifold need to be removed?

Thanks in advance

I think you can get by with out removing the intake plenum. You may need to access the lower torx bolt with a long (18") extension from the very front of the engine. Hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks for the reply...I'm struggling to work out how the starter motor will fit out of the engine without any of the intake removed though!

Also do you know the socket size needed for that extension bar?

Thanks

Probably a little late to help you but I just did mine this past weekend. I had to remove the plenum but the rest was able to stay.
