I have an 09 CS PDK and recently noticed when I'm cruising along and then I start to accelerate, between 1600 - 1700 rpm, I hear a metallic rattle coming from the rear.

It sounds like a screw is rattling around the muffler area, but only happens for a second or two at most in that 1700 rpm range.

Anyone encounter this and have any idea what it could be?

Thanks.

Check the heat shield, it may be loose or touching the muffler.

My 06 CS makes the same noise, but it's more like 2,100 RPM during mild acceleration or float throttle. I hoped it would go away after installing a Milltek cat-back system, but it's still there. Now I suspect it's the cat on the passenger side header. My car is off warranty, but emissions devices are covered longer. If I can prove it's the cat I might get the dealer to replace it under the emissions warranty.
