Porsche says when you check this option that it mounts it on the drivers side, but my 2014 Cayman S came from Germany with it on the the passenger's side.
I am happy either way but would like to know if you ordered this option what side it is on in your car.
That's interesting. I just went to the Porsche web site and you are right that it does say "drivers" seat....but we know that it comes installed on the right seat. I suspect that this description was orginally written for the UK cars and was just cut and pasted into the US configurator.
So I am not the only one. I think you are correct. "Driver's seat" UK reference makes perfect sense.
I am glad we driver in the left seat. I would not want the FE on the driver's side.
Clearly they mean you can reach it from the drivers seat. The driver's belt has a release mechanism that kicks in when someone shouts out "OH **** GEORGE, IT'S FIRE!!!"
Years ago I had a 5 series BMW that came with a fire extinguisher. It was under the driver's seat. I guess they did it that way because it was a long reach to get to an extinguisher under the passenger seat.
Just curious, but why do so many of you need a fire extinguisher? Does the car really catch fire that often and if so, under what circumstances? I thought car fires were very rare.
